wow maya whats going on with you? Dont recall you ever being like this before. Also if you dont use pet attack why are going down on peeps who do?
I prefer most pets on defense because too many times they aint attacking the mobs close to me & going to other rooms & agroing mobs when Im not even done with the mobs in front of me. Also pets can attack walls if a mob is behind it, they stay there & dont come to you. If the leash is too long you literally have to move to make your pet come to you or use pet command to get them on the mobs you want. They can also get stuck in corners or behind a wall & again you have to reposition or use pet command to get them to you. & Ive had times where my melee pets werent goin where I want them to. Sometimes they lag behind. Though I think thats been addressed in the past & has improved.

Because people refuse to read what I write and provide “solutions” for problems that aren’t being discussed or create strawmen to argue. Plus, I have been spending a good deal of time making my build “nerf proof”, which is rather taxing on patience.

What I am saying is that the existence of Pet Attack command is completely irrelevant to the grievance of Wind Devil leash nerf.

Before it was nerfed, you could use Pet Attack to address the problem of the wonky AI. But certain people seem to think that you can increase the maximum leash range of a Pet (in this case Wind Devil), by simply ordering it to attack a far away target that is outside said range. What will happen is that it will go there and then come back to you unless you keep spamming it and that is simply not feasible.

Ranged pets do, not all pets and they are not targeting the wall. They simply do not And if they get stuck without ever coming back to you (even if you force move them) report that as a bug.

I have never had that happen with melee pets since I started playing, except the weird bug that was supposed to be fixed.

It is definitely not normal behaviour, but obviously if they still do that and no one reports it, it won’t get fixed.

Pets lagging behind has to do with their run speed. You can increase it with %Total Speed and it shouldn’t be an issue.

Do note that certain pets like the Skeletal Servant, Salazar’s Harbinger etc have lower move speed by default.

That is bad because it actually affects their aggro and while it might be ok while leveling or in the story/campaign, you do not want it in the Crucible, on SR or while doing Superbosses.

Not really. WDs are too slow so if you are kitting hard, using Pet Attack causes them to lag behind even more (because they are now chasing your target instead attacking some mob in a distance) before they finally hit max leash distance and teleport to you.
The solution to the wonky AI was to simply re-summon them over and over again.

Also, let’s not forget that WDs will move 33% faster. So you can move around a lot more without them leashing back to you, even though max leash distance is shorter (they will stay in that distance a lot longer).

That has to do with their speed rather than the AI.

But I do agree that they move kind of slow.

Move Speed should not affect leash range. It doesn’t affect normal pets at least (you can increase move speed through %Total Speed)

It doesn’t but move speed affects how frequently pets will hit max leash range and teleport back to you, because they will chase you better within leash range.

Increase move speed to compensate for increased leash range then and problem solved.

anyone on test patch that can actually confirm devils don’t just snap to constantly on kite play ?, movespeed or not ? (i can’t see how more move speed would still not make them snap to, would just mean they potentially reached the leach range quicker and snapped sooner)
watching Retal_Abuser 's Crate video it seems like 90% of the time wind devils are not in range of crate while kiting, along with cinder winds, and they are often snapping to char just before getting in range of him (maelstrom aside)

if wind farts are now empy bros leash range it does seem like something that would hurt casters/kiters
playing around with ascendant authority to boost empy bros speed doesn’t seem to help kiting play, just makes it worse by having them more quickly/sensitive leave target and either run back to you if not straight up snap to

I actually find the short range for Guardians really irritating and think it should be increased, along with bringing back WD’s old range. Maybe also do the same for wraiths and skeletons. It’s just really annoying keeping kiteable bosses like Gargabol or Moose at maximum range and seeing your pets just chilling next to you like there’s nothing to do.

This is not an issue that affects endgame experience. New players also encounter the same issue, it’s really just not intuitive at all that some pets would snap back to you when they’re not even close to the edge of the screen.

Yeah, I should add this in as well. Seeing your boner gang just afking near you while the fight is happening like a little bit away and with no way to even change their stance can easily get kind of annoying.

This QoL change motivated me to make my own pet build at last for the first time, I mean a build which mainly focuses a pet skill in the first place, not only uses the player-scaled pets as a support. What do you guys think? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Um, I have one weird suggestion seeing how lightning Devils finally got some QoL. Can acid variation of WD get +2 summon burst as well? Asking mostly on behalf of acid Archon.
