[Question] Blizzard with damaged houses

Can someone explain Abandonment prevention.

Do you need a huge amount of workers as builder?

Why is there no REPAIR button on the houses or can you give priority.

Currently you end up in a decennium long downwards cycle you cannot break.

Also the game warnings make it worse, because they do not explain the mechanic at all.

“Not enough houses!!!”, pffff, I know! go fix them, I have everything in stock, desirability is huge, food is fine. Gold enough in stock.

When closing all third tier factories to even boost the labour and builder pool, the cycle still continues down. No idea what more to do.

Thank you for your time.

I’m new to this type of game, but when I run into that, I never really feel like I can recover. It just feels like game over at that point. I just have to figure out what I messed up on 10 hours earlier, so I can try to be better next time around.

Repair.
Builders repair houses automatically.
This was confirmed Fixed by me and some others in the most recent build.
As long as you have the resources and a good number of builders without a ton of other build tasks going on, as soon as you see the 59-60% structure bar show up over the building with in a min or so it should be fixed.

As for Abandonment Not related to the structure integrity they can be abandoned if something has changed that has caused the appeal rating to dip below the minimum required for the current level.
Check the appeal rating on the houses to see if they are below the required rating.

I think this is kind of dumb, rather than down grading the people will be like, Whelp. I did not get my Cheese and wine for the last month so I may as well be homeless. LoL
Fixed the appeal issue and bam people will move back in right quick.

The current level could be the issue then. Cheese and Wine chasing it is. Took me 4 hours, but back at it.

Should you switch to a huge number of builders when about 40 houses have a bar after a blizzard?

The number of builders would depend on the size of your town. I have seen a range of 10-50, Keep in mind when they are not building they will stay in the labor pool so having a bit more should not harm you.

How I judge if I have enough builders is when you click on the number of people in the upper left and you set the builders there is a number to the left of the number of builders you set. This number tells you how many are working as builders right now. So for example if you have a number like 4 / 15 then you have 4 working and 15 is the max allowed. The other 11 out of 15 are in the labor pool because there is no work for them. If you are maxed out on both numbers (15/15) and stuff is moving slow and you have adequate amounts of labor then you could stand to raise that Max builder number.

This is very unclear in the game, there it is possible to have more builders as the assigned amount. But I needed about 50 indeed, so I was correct (but late) with dropping all work for repairs.
