Question on running the new expansion

Hello,

Not really sure where to post this, but here’s the problem I have not had any luck in solving:

Bought Grim Dawn from GOG a couple months ago. Runs with no hiccups what so ever.

Just bought the expansion pack from GOG 2 days ago. For whatever reason, I can install it, but when it completes, & I press the 'launch" button, it doesn’t start up, but instead pops up a windows explorer window. I then installed the “loyalist” DLC & still I get the same results.

Reading around the forums, I’ve tried the repair tool, uninstalling & reinstalling it all, but nothing changes. When I start up the grim dawn game, that starts up & runs fine, but under main campaign, I cannot get anything to appear in the custom game option, but I can run the Crucible part of it.

What’s the trick to getting this to work?

The expansion is not a custom game, it is the main campaign. When you create a new char, can you select the new masteries for it ?

I am using GOG Galaxy, which is working fine. You have apparently installed the game manually. The expansion is not meant to appear under Custom Games - it is just called Grim Dawn - Ashes of Malmouth. If you see this screen, then select the Main Campaign and press Start.

If you see the old main screen with your chars standing under a lantern in front of a shack, then the installation of the expansion failed / did not happen.

I tried that just now, & no, it doesn’t have anything aside from the standard 6.

No actually, I didn’t see that screen at all. I have tried to use the gog galaxy thingy, but all it does is lock up on my windows 10.

Is your version number v1.0.2.0 in the right lower corner? If not you might need to upgrade before you can install the expansion. Not really sure, as I have never done it manually.

It says 1.0.0.8, even tho I installed the loyalist dlc. If I reinstall the gog galaxy, will it overwrite my current lvl 57 character?

it wants to dl the whole game again.

Your chars are stored in [b]…\My Games\Grim Dawn[/b]. This location will not be touched. The Loyalist DLC just added a few in-game items and is unrelated to the expansion.

So I reinstalled the gog galaxy, & am reinstalling the entire game this way. I should be able to tell if it works or not in about an hour. I have about 7.5gigs to dl. Not on the world’s fastest connection up this way.

ok, I got it to work, but when it runs through the GOG Galaxy thingy, it runs super slow. Had to drop most of the graphics settings down to minimal, which makes it look terrible. :frowning:

New graphics engine unlike the original one?

You can start the game without Galaxy now. If the performance is still poor, then see [thread=56626]New Renderer Common Issues[/thread]. To verify your installation open GOG Galaxy, go to Grim Dawn > More > Manage installation > Verify / Repair. And to set a launch option go to More > Settings.
