Question towards Lifesteal

Hello,

ive got a quick question towards lifesteal (attack damage converted to health). I made the experience, that vs some mobs the mechanic (converting dmg to hp) works just fine and vs some, like obsidian mobs, it doesnt work at all.

I pretty much died kinda often cause i couldnt vamp on obsidian mobs and some others, but i dont really know why it doesnt work.

Is that intended at all or is this some kind of bug?

Thanks for Help!

Intended. Obsidian enemies are immune to lifesteal, as are most bosses in Ultimate.

Oh dang. I was so happy cause i build a vamp based blademaster with like 50% lifesteal and 25k dps and now its obsolete :frowning: . But my bad, i didnt knew it!

Thanks for your help!

Vamp based BM essentially gives up damage for nothing imo, ditch that crimson spike or w/e you have! If you have a decent health pool and some phys resist you should have no problem fighting obsidian mobs. Just don’t dive into the center of a group of like 12 and you should be fine.

If you really struggle with them for whatever reason ring of steel works quite well against them. Assuming you’ve got all the gear 3 points get you the aoe freeze and a ~1/3 chance to fumble. Very effective form of damage mitigation in general, fumble works on bosses too!

Does anyone know if attack damage converted to health qualifies as a life leech effect? According to 1.0.0.4 notes, there’s been a significant rework of life leech effects, including capping the resist at 100 so that resist redux can be used as a supplementary to increade efficiency.

Attack damage converted to health is the flat equivalent of life leech and is affected by life leech resistance.

And what that means for the original poster and vampire type characters is that it may be time to revisit some of those toons after re-gearing in some resistance reduction. Manticore comes to mind as a quick rewiring.
