-<Referring to the “GUIDE: Installing & Using 3DS Max Plugins”>-
I had just recently got my hands on the 2019 version of 3ds Max, and I had noticed that in the guide that it said,
“NOTE: the plugins are designed to work the 32 bit (x86) version of max, not the 64 bit version.”
My question is how would one (that has the 64 bit version) go about getting these particular plugins? I would really appreciate any help I’m dying to dive into this. I had used 3ds Max 2009 back when I was in school and it was really enjoyable so when i saw the post about the plugins i was overly joyed (despite the NOTE that was displayed)
The 32 bits plugins are inside the Grim Dawn directory, you need a 32 bit version. If you have a 64 bit version I don’t know if it’s possible to convert those plugins.
I have an error loading plugin DLL with 3DS Max 2019 64 bit when loading the plugin :
Error code 193 - %1 not a valid win32 application
I don’t know if it’s related but I have multiple 3ds max application (2012 32 bit is working fine with the plugins)
I have the same issue after copying the dll in 3ds directory and MaxPlugins2019.dlo in the plugins directory of 3DS Max 2019 64 bit.
Are there more DLL to copy in the directory ?
Icedragon3922, is it working for you ?
Another question about 3ds animation, the skin modifier is recognized but not the wave modifier.
I also tried to bake animation vertex but GD Viwer doesn’t recognize it.
Those of you with issues installing the plugins for 2019 x64:
.dlo file needs to be copied to (\3ds Max 2019\Plugins)
.dll files need to be copied to the main 3dsmax directory (\3ds Max 2019): Engine.dll
libogg.dll
libvorbis.dll
libvorbisfile.dll
lua51.dll
steam_api64.dll
Widget.dll
zlibwapi.dll
Please double-check to make sure you have copied everything over as described. If you are certain that you have and the issue is still present, make sure you have Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x32 & x64) installed on your computer.
Finally, remember to set the renderer in max “Legacy Direct3d 9”
I can’t find “steam_api64.dll” in GD directory, but even after copying it from PoE I have the same error (it could be because I have multiple 3ds Max installed).
Okami, if you’re trying to create a wave effect, your best bet would be to use one of the ‘wiggle’ or ‘wiggly’ shaders. They both work off vertex color, so make sure it’s checked in the msh’s asset in the AM. In max, black vert colors = no wiggle, white = wiggle.
Wiggle uses a static world-centric wave (moving through x/y will cause offsets on the wave).
Wiggly is essentially mesh-based, so running/moving through the world will not affect it’s wiggle rate.
