Questions about Physical Resistance

  1. Can it be reduced? Are there skills, devotions, etc that reduce physical resistance, or is the effect even available in the game engine? Are there mob skills that reduce the player’s physical resistance?
  2. Are there mobs with significant amounts of physical resistance? Do mobs get more of it based on difficulty level?
  3. How important is physical resistance for a player? Do mobs generally start doing less physical and more Aether, Chaos, etc. types of damage as the game progresses, or are there significant physical threats at all points in the game?
  1. Yes. It is reduced by Curse of Frailty, Break Morale, Assassin’s Mark, a couple item procs, and by general resist reduction. Unsure about mobs that target Physical Resist specifically, but many mobs have general resist reduction that will affect Physical Resist.

  2. To my knowledge only the Avatar of Mogdrogen has any noticeable amount of Physical Resist (80%). Everything else isn’t likely to have more than 20% unless they wear specific gear.

  3. Physical is probably the brunt of damage you’ll take in endgame…but the resistance to it is nonessential. It’s a luxury, really. Nice to have but not needed.

  1. Yes. I know the Absolute Zero skill gives OFF a -phys resist component. There might be others, but that’s one I know offhand.
  2. Yes, a lot of bosses have some value of phys resist. Pretty sure they do get more as you increase in level.
  3. It’s pretty damn useful. Just about every mob in the game has a physical component to at least some of their attacks. It’s a good stat to have.
