Quiting for now

Reached Naddo with a Necromancer/Inquisitor. Don’t have time to invest in triying different build setup in order to pass the boss so I quit for now. Hope the devs will do something about it because many players find it frustrating. Especially because I didn’t have any issues with the build on both expac until now.
Please let it be doable on normal.
I will be playing Titan Quest 1 until further news (because I never got to finish it).
Don’t get me wrong, I love Grim Dawn and I love the new expac, just waiting for a boss nerf.

How do you expect devs to fix a player’s unwillingness to improve their own character? FoA is supposed to be harder than other content, just because you were able to beat AoM doesn’t mean you’re gonna beat FoA without adjusting your spec. A more productive approach is to post your grimtools so people can help you. If devs nerfed boss over and over for normal mode, you’re still gonna get wrecked when you got to elite/ulti/ascendant anyway. Better to learn how to fix your builds and carry that info to higher difficulties

Could you please import your character on Grim Tools? That way the community can check it out and see exactly why Naddo was such a challenge.

For example, Naddo deals a lot of Chaos damage (as can be expected). Have you tried taking a Chaos resistance potion?

I know I read about it doing Chaos, Fire and physical damage. I have fire and chaos at 80 but physical at 50.
I understand the requirements but I don’t get it why so hard on the first run.

If your res are fine, it’s a very easy fight. He has 2 big attacks that you have to move out of range; the telegraphs are huge, and he takes ages to perform them, and if you have top-tier DPS, he will probably be dead before performing the second one.

Make sure you avoid the sunder attack (red bullet spam) by moving to other side of arena. And use evade when he jumps at you, that attack lowers your defensive ability by a huge chunk so he might follow up with a crit

Grimtools link isn’t working anymore but looks like you’re trying to do gun and pets at same time. You should pick one of those playstyles and commit to it, trying to do both will make you bad at both. Since inquisitor has no pet related skills, I’d lean to the auto attack approach with guns and dual wield with weapon pool skills from both masteries, if that’s your jam. Focusing on elemental damage or a specific damage type Eg cold with necrotic edge/chilling rounds. Can put beronath’s shard in one gun for default attack. Spectral wrath (necro) and aura of censure (inquisitor) will both stack to lower enemy cold res, making it a convinient dmg type

Then change your gear/skills/devotions to support it your chosen playstyle. The important thing is picking an approach, whether it’s ranged attack/casting/pets etc and going all in on it. This is a rough sketch using mostly faction/crafted stuff, no affixes on the greens as it’s just an example. Apostate, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.7) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Has devotions you could consider too. Hydra is must have on ranged weapons, murmur lowers enemy cold res and leviathan/amatok have big cold dmg. Make sure you’re using components (found or crafted) to max out relevant resistances and increase your armor absorption. Use augments from faction vendors to get more res and bonus stats on weapons/jewelry

Naddo is a gimmick fight because he has an enormously strong adcth attack causing him to heal.
To fix this you need to increase your life leech resist, some ways to do this are:

temporarily moving some devotion points in vulture and/or ulo
using purified salts component
using torment relic

I’m now at 80% life leech resistant from 0, unfortunately I cannot craft torment relic.
I really appreciate all the feedback.
he is still healing up too hard and re-spawning mobs are killing me.

Are you able to edit your previous grimtools link or post a new one so we can see what’s wrong? Old link doesn’t work

don’t know why but it worked before, maybe I need to keep page open.
I have stack up potions to use before the fight.

Yeah your build is pretty much a mess, you have no healing and no damage. The skeletons/blight fiends are wasted points unless you’re dedicating your build fully to pets, so get rid of them. Remove points in rune of hagarrad, it’s doing nothing with only 2 points. Pump points into spectral wrath/spectral binding for health/ offensive ability and resistance reduction. Do you know what damage type you want to play? Do you want to play gunner? For a weapon attack build, you need ‘damage converted to health’ and attack speed. Right now you’re stretched too thin and need to decide what build you’re meant to be playing

well I would take gunner than. I already opted for the guide you gave me for the apostate.
talk about recommending GD for not needing a guide :slight_smile:

Yep, pets need some gear for support and right now your gear doesn’t really have any pet support (apart from the augment on your gun). C_M made some good suggestions.

Then again, I hope you’re finding all this fun! You mentionned in your first post that you didn’t want to spend time trying other builds and refining your points, but uuuuuuhh that’s what we’re doing right now. And in many ways, that’s a lot of what GD is about.

Ah, also, no guide = you’re going to mess up and need to fix things sometimes =)

of course it’s fun, but I wanted to do this later, on veteran or other difficulty.

No worries you should be fine with progressing the dlc once your character has a more focused build direction. I know you said at the start you didn’t want to redo the whole thing, but unfortunately you’re at that point now if you wanna keep going. But think of it this way, everything you learn while improving this character will help when making new ones. And the better you understand this game, the more fun it gets, as you’ll be able to make cool new builds in the future, experimenting with different stuff. Grimtools can get addicting, fair warning
The good news is, if you like gunner apostate, there’s a pretty cool set waiting for you in endgame :stuck_out_tongue: Unwound Fate - Item Set - Grim Dawn Item Database

done! thank you so much everyone!

One thing worth emphasizing on is that GD really really wants you to push for one gamestyle. There are exceptions (like hybrid pet builds, where both the player and its army deal damage) but often, going full in on a couple skills is the way.

Congrats on the battle! Now go save the Kurn =D
