All of them together are important. Sometimes more %crit damage is better than more RR if you already have enough RR but that is just a few cases and I am shit at math.
Example Arcanist 25% crit and extra OA can be better than CoF elemental RR. Just one example based on real experience
What i have seen, as i have testing Avenger set a lot these days. Upheval flat damge seems to affect main target too. It’s the only way I can explain the damage burst when I crit with upheval.
What some people who have been testing are saying is that the DoT part of the spell only affects AoE not main. I don’t know how that is possible but if it’s true it’s toatlly lame
Nope nothing attached. There is no way that avenger stick could do ~120k flat crit on single target when upheval procs without upheval and the mod for it.
I don’t know how it’s added to the damage. It’s a separate spell. Perhaps soemeone with more intimate knowledge of GD skills could shed some light
Not entirely true. It’s been a while but I think their single target is comparable (FW should be slightly better if we disregard gear support) but AoE wise Forcewave is much better since we’re not restricted to hitting certain number of targets
FW also has more gear support, moreover it’s one of a kind skill i.e it’s the only Physical Caster skill in the soldier mastery and in the game (if we disregard item based conversions that is). On the other hand, Strike which despite it’s unique sfx is usually not picked as everything it does can be outdone by Savagery + WPS (True for both ranged/melee)
As for what I said about having something figured out, I’d like to report that I failed (for now:p)
I tried two things
Full Aether PS using Vortex and conversion. I was happy but then I remembered Vortex would work just as well with Savagery and WPS:undecided:
I tried what I did on my ABB Pistol Infiltrator, use WPS while waiting for main skill to get off CD in this case it was Primal Strike. Basically I wanted to use Primal Strike on CD and use WPS till it got off CD. I realized it’s just a much worse version of Savagery + Untrasmuted PS.
Both the above ideas failed, the only hope for PS builds is that sparkthrower provided the damn thing drops

Also, being a SPELL, Forcewave doesnt suffer from “fumble/impaired aim”. When those debuffs apply (and there are shitloads of the in AoM and crucible), your PS DPS drops by 20-50%, but Forcewave doesnt give a fuck about that.
And Forcewave doesnt need to convert physical damage into lightning, it deals massive physical damage by default. It also costs less energy. And since it’s a “ranged” skill that can be used with melee weapon, it has much higher range than PS with melee weapon, and higher damage than PS with ranged weapon (because base damage for ranged weapon is significantly lower).
Also, enemies tend to have much less physical resistance, than lightning (though that apply only to physical forcewave), and physical PS requires Avenger’s Crusher, that is melee weapon and isnt really good for PS.
And overall gear support, of course…
Umm, gonna disagree with you there. Ultos is T-1 set in the right hands.

It’s T-1 fluff, but FW has more gearing options than PS. We have 2 full sets and some other items for FW builds so gearing is much flexible. PS only has Ultos
