Hey thanks for your advice. I removed totem, wind devil and vines and allocated points into heart of wild (more life seemed a good idea?) and savagery. Am pretty someone is going to point out that there are much better places i could put those 8 points. I did manage to still solo gladiator with 3 blessings and a banner. I have linked what i changed below.
I find myself referring to this thread frequently; it would be helpful if it were made a sticky.
Has anyone asked a mod if they’d mind? I don’t think it’s too much of a duplication of the Build Compendium.
I agree that it should be made a sticky as it provides really useful information for Crucible-viable builds. Not that there is anything wrong with the normal Build Compendium.
These 2 threads serve 2 different purposes. When i want to have a fun build to clear Campaign content, I will check the Build Compendium. When i wish to build a character that has a good chance of clearing Crucible reliably, i will look for this thread.
As much as I love this thread, good lord please NO. Please unsticky ALL current stickied threads and make just ONE SINGLE thread with links in the top to valued threads. Because of the ancient forum software here we soon won’t be able to view any threads because stickies are also stuck to the top of page 2 and subsequent pages – soon there will be no place to even scroll down.
I’ve been attempting my luck in farming 100-150 with one of my builds, and I wanted to help update Drizzto’s post about Crucible tips, since with the new enemies, there are a lot more dangerous factors:
Wave 112: A three boss battle wave. Avris Morrowill is often one of the spawns, and he spawns Ancient Wraiths, which have an attack that debuffs you for -24% Physical Resistance, that’s also stackable. Note they also apply the debuff on death.
Wave 119: Allostria, the Mindthief, may spawn in this wave, and she has two phases. She doesn’t do the in-between phase animation that Krieg does, but you’ll see her HP bar rise all the way to full. Make sure you don’t kill her last, as Wave 120 brings 2 Nemeses and you don’t want to have to fight her along with the Nemeses.
Wave 124(?): I forget the exact wave that he’s in, but Fleshweaver Haraxis has his Greater Mark of Aetherfire in the Crucible, and that has -30% Aether RR and -40% Elemental RR, that stacks with all the other RR. If you see this enemy and see the spherical Aetherfire balls (your debuff will have a teal Curse of Frailty debuff), get out and get out fast. Thankfully, he’s a rare spawn, so it’s likely you won’t have to worry about it.
Wave 137: Anesteria is no longer guaranteed at this wave, it’s 2 out of the following: Anesteria, Salazar, Valaxteria, and Ternox. You don’t want to get hit by Ternox’s comet while under Anesteria’s RR.
Wave 140: Wave 140 has Gabal’Thunn. Want to know how this jerkwad operates? Not only does he have an Aura that grants -225 DA and -35% total speed, but he also puts up Sentinel Beacons that grants an additional 25% OA to fellow enemies. You have to put with this guy and a Nemesis, and Gabal Thunn + Iron Maiden is probably the most lethal combo you can get in Crucible before the post-150 Waves. I’d take 2 Iron Maidens before having to fight that combo, it will insta-murder anyone who doesn’t have sufficient DA + Physical Resistance. Thankfully, Gabal’Thuun is not a guaranteed spawn, and it’s a toss-up as to which Nemesis you get.
Wave 144: You should make a note here to kill Ilgorr before everyone else, as it has a second phase you don’t want to fight alongside Wave 145.
Wave 147: Surprisingly, there isn’t another AoM boss that can take it, it’s the same Mad Queen or Loxmere boss you had beforehand. All of the Mad Queen battle tips apply.
Wave 149: Similarly, I haven’t seen any new bosses for Wave 149, it’s still a combination of Sentinel, Shar’Zul, Alkamos, Archon, Boris the Pit Master, Malkadarr, Krieg, Cronley, Lucuis, Karroz, & Bloodlord Thalonis.
I’ve been playing this build for Gladiator Crucible, and with 2 banners (Stonewall and Stormcaller), you’re able to replenish your tributes by playing 100-150, allowing you to farm 130-150 and not have to worry about replenishing your blessings, and while it’s inefficient in terms of time, if you sell a bunch of the green items you get from the loot, you get your money back and then some, so it’s completely self-sustaining. Selling jewelry and belts makes for good cash if you don’t want to waste too much time grabbing items. Its DPS is definitely worse compared to the other pet builds in the thread, but it has the following advantages:
- 20,000 Damage Absorption every 20 seconds
- 60% Physical Resistance
- 3300 DA before Harp Proc or Stonewall banner, easily goes over 3500 DA with the banner, alongside Bloody Pox’s -180 OA debuff
- Over 2500 Armor with 100% absorption
- Pets have almost 50% overcap for Aether resistance, meaning they can facetank Anesteria and handle RR bursts like Fleshweaver Harraxis
- Ulo for Nullification, and Stone Form, Healing Rain, and Ishtak for further defenses
Out of the pet builds you have listed, with the exception of the Night King, this build is likely as safe a 100-150 Gladiator farmer as you can get. I’ve beaten Wave 150 multiple times, and that includes Wave 147 Mad Queen, Wave 149 Sentinel + Alkamos [also beat the Sentinel + Sharzul combo, it’s a pain], and the Gabal’Thunn + Iron Maiden combo I listed before. It definitely can fight combos like 2 Iron Maidens better than Dracarris or Flying Pikachu Conjurer. As long as I don’t dive head-first into three lines full of debuffs, I’d consider it fairly reliable.
What’s your clear time for 100-150?
I’ve never seen greater mark of aetherfire in crucible. Can we get confirmation that this is the case?
Fleshweaver Harraxis is not a guaranteed spawn; I’ll try to pinpoint the exact wave that he spawns, I’ve only seen him rarely myself. When he does spawn, though, I clearly saw “Greater Mark of Aetherfire” in my debuff bar (he’s the only one that uses it).
I play on a Steam controller that’s increasingly failing, so my clear times are not representative of how this build could perform. Keyboard and mouse players have a much easier time targeting single opponents, and as long as you target the healer mobs / Heroes that spawn adds, you can do far better times than I can. It largely depends on Nemesis spawn / Wave 149 spawn; Sentinel is guaranteed to kill the bonus because he turns your pets against you, and Lokarr has a strange obsession with giving me Zantarin every Nemesis wave, and not being able to target him and the Death Revenants through his adds due to my controller setup kills the bonus as well.
My point is: it’s a pet build that’s likely to handle the new nasty stuff better than the other pet builds, especially the nasty Gabal’Thunn / Iron Maiden combo, so I figured it’d be worth a second set of hands to test it and see if it performs similarly to something like Dracarris or Flying Pikachu.
Hey, these tips can be very useful! When I go for a walk with my wacky home-brewed creations like physical IT cabalist, pierce double rune infiltrator or vitality DK I encounter some nasty spikes in difficulty in 100-150.
So the weaker your build is the better you have to play and the more you should know about the enimies. My respect to those who play pet builds in crucible, I know how hard it is.
I can’t not mention the fact that builds from 150-170 section simply don’t care about anything in 100-150, they just stomp it and go further. You don’t even have to know your enemies with them. Shows the huge gap in effectiveness of different concepts.
Hi ty for the awsome thread!! Pick my last build from it and it was quite sucessfull!
This being said I want to reroll and looks toward “DW aether spellbinder by Suede Lee” cuz I never play arcanist or necro and want to give it a shot. But there is something I don’t understand in the build: How can he proc reaping strike and necrotic edge??? I see no basic atack replacement skill… Sry if it’s obvious but I begin.
I don’t know if it’s ok to ask here but there is no dedicated post for this build and you played it so I try. If you want to keep the thread clean and focuses on build submissions I’ll delete my post ofc.
You’re welcome! It’s totally ok to ask here.
He procs them easily - with basic attacks. Left and right mouse buttons are Chaos Strike skills (from components - riftstones). They have 4sec cooldown, so when they are on cooldown character uses just basic attacks instead.
Be warned that this build requires skill in crucible 150-170, though it breezes through everything when you do it right.
Thank you so much for making this! My goal is to find a build that can level up easily with the a same or similar build to the end-game one, while having a good end game. This list makes it much easier than digging through the forums for stuff while trying to figure out what’s good/ bad.
EDIT: Although now that I’ve thoroughly looked through a lot of these, it seems like these are new player friendly, many of them requiring very specific end game mythical items. Oh well, back to digging!
Ty for the answear, I didn’t know that left and right click makes auto atack while assigned spell is on cd, good to know!
Was looking at build 11 the dual wield aether spellbinder and then played with someone in crucible who has made the build. The only difference is they used the agrivix malice relic rather than the haunt relic. I guess the haunt relic is for the skill that does aether RR, is that enough to compensate for the higher aether damage and you get with argrivx malice?
Yes. Haunt is better. Aether RR > % aether damage
Added 3 more builds. Ofc I tested more, but only consistent ones made it.
Also I wanted to share that thanks to GD forums I discovered Chronicon - pretty damn good arpg.

I didn’t check to see if the amount of resist shred is the same for Crucible as it is for campaign, but yes, Greater Mark of Aetherfire is in the Crucible.
Can this get updated since there was changes to crucible?
There is only one person involved in testing all the builds. If an update is scheduled to come then it’ll take time. The patch came out today/yesterday (Depending on your timezone) so the author still needs time to test things out.
I just wanted to know if it will get worked on. Really excited what builds that were in the 150 category will move up to the 170 ones.
