I don’t have to find info, I have these builds, so I’m checking them myself.
Cabalist is nearly the same. It lost some damage, but still clears very fast and generally has no problems. Bind Flame torrent to Bone Harvest. Yes, use Haunted steel now if you don’t need that resist from SoB.
Haven’t tried apostate nor ritualist yet, maybe tomorrow. Many builds to retest, you see.
Quick devotion question for the apostate and cabalist builds- I noticed both don’t take spear all the way to ability. Would it be worth it to put a point in red crossroads and cut either bat or fiend, and then use the extra points to finish spear and toss a couple others wherever?

Believe me, all these differences are minor, this build crushes crucible anyway
Thanks Zhuugus By the way, what about the bat devotion? You said it was useless now…so is changing to, well say, Ghoul or something else for example be a better choice? Or is sticking with it still okay?
Oh and I forgot to ask if the revenant devotion is still worth taking…seeing as some said it was kinda subpar even with builds focusing on it. Also what about Mogdrogen’s Ardor, isn’t the only one affected by this relic is the revenant devotion? Doesn’t revenant scale with player bonuses rather than pet bonuses? Also, what skills did you bind on what devotion? Thanks
PS: Really great work Zhuugus, this topic really needs to be stickied.
I don’t recommend you to go for pistol builds, they suck in Grim Dawn. This one presented in my initial post works because these specific legendary pistols give immense damage.
If you want to do it anyway, try build from my initial post. So, tactician, inquisitor seal and inquisitor bonuses to guns and cadance with deadly momentum supported with physical-based pistols. Maybe that works on leveling stage. You should ask JoV, author of the build.
I’m still pretty sure that it’s far easier to play warder or blademaster and forget pistols.
No, totally not worth it. Spear proc is only for aether-based builds and these are vitality-based. The devotion is taken simply for some passives like crit damage.
I left Bat simply for affinity points and +4% lifesteal. Revenant is taken only for it’s passives like lifesteal and AS, I don’t use it’s proc. Bat+revenant=10% lifesteal, that’s a lot. Ardor is there for massive +skills bonus and +8% total speed. If you don’t have it Doom or Impurity is ok. Haunt is stiil great and much cheaper but you’ll have to constantly press another button.
Binds: Widow - Cadence, Bat - Blitz, Spear - Field command, Time dilation - skill from Krieg set (or use warcry until you get one), Raise the dead - nothing, Hungering void - haunt or whatever (I use seal of corruption skill)
All these choices are so minor anyway, believe me, when you achieve full power you’ll stomp everything, this build is a beast.
Sorry, but I have no time for it. People constantly ask me how builds perform in the new patch, so I am busy retesting. Check my comments in the thread, I answered some questions about it. The build is at the very top together with doubleblitz commando.
I’ll check it, a bit later. Retesting builds now.
Campagn shows nothing, most builds suffer from lack of durability and sustain, not lack of damage. And that can only be checked in crucible. How about you test it in gladiator and tell us the results?
My character is not maxed, and I havent found time to do whole crucible run yet…
Also I trust your judgement more because you test many top notch builds.
As for the campaign, well i agree with you but most individual boss fights in campaign are harder than cruci, talking for individual boss fights i repeat.
Hey Zhuugus, can you post your version of the S&B DK with reaping strike and markovian advantage? Really don’t know what to change, thanks in advance, you rock man :D:D:D
Holy shit, that quote. Don’t do it again please.
Sorry, I don’t have time for it. Just take some points off Menhir’s will and Blindside. Reaping strike until it has 25% chance and markovian 1 point.
Thanks!
I answered above.
Don’t worry about small things, the build rocks!
I am sure you know there is an import option in GrimTools where you can just click import your character from the save file and copy paste the link here.
I really want to see what you did with the devotions and stuff.
Also, new player here, i would really like to know why people use the Haunt relic in the DK S&B Build, and not the ones that look more powerful (Uroboruuk Reaping, for example), is the -% aether resistance haunt provides? Thanks in advance
Yes, the -aether and - life leech resist are useful, but it is fine to use other relics as well, especially if you use the new aether component (seal of corruption) which has a -aether resist curse type skill as well.
Its active skill not just reduces Aether resistance, but has no CD, decent AoE and duration, also forces enemies to miss on their attacks, triggers devotion powers like crazy and reduces LIFE LEECH RESISTANCE as well, which make your lifesteal far more effective. Hell, it even deals considerate amount of damage, and has +1 to arcanist skill even!
For aether arcanist, it’s just a no-brainer. But even if you dont use arcanist in Aether build, it’s still one of the best relics, because its active skill gives too much of good things.
I wonder, why there is no Witchblade in that list of powerful builds, nor any 2-h Forcewave build? I play 2-h Forcewave Witchblade now, and among all builds (that i managed to assembly using gear i’ve farmed myself) he feels the most powerful, by far (for example, jajaja’s elecro-warder feels far weaker with my subpar gear). His clear speed in Challenger Crucible is quite impressive, i can use Blessing of Amatok at 110 mark, blast it to 150, gather loot, blast from 130 to 150, and i still have buff on me remaining.
Sadly, i lack many BiS gear pieces for him, so i cant reliably and quickly farm Gladiator (although i’ve beaten it several times) - farming Challenger is just more efficient for him.
For me, Focewave has several significant advantages over other skills. It hits from significant range, so you dont have to run for every mob (just blast him from afar). It has quite large AoE, so big packs of mobs melt down very quickly. And it is unaffected by nasty “fumble/impaired aim” (that every second mob seem to possess in AoM and Crucible), so you DPS wont be suddenly halved when those debuffs apply.
As for Witchblade choice - i choosed Occultist for his CoF and BoD/AoG skills. CoF is a huge-AoE, long duration, no-CD, instant resistance-reduction debuff (the best RR skill, in my opinion). BoD procides good OA boost and AoG adds so much needed physical and poison resists (they’re so damn hard to obtain without it!).
It’s kinda wierd that no one ever came to it. Yes, i saw that Octavius guy, but he he is rather Cadence+blitz+Forcewave, and he cant spam Forcewave cause he’s using shield.
