I have about 500 hours of playtime on an Xbox Series S, and have experienced recurring crashes throughout my play, across multiple patches.
I’m not sure what I can or should collect to help with the report, but happy to try anything. Here’s what I can share:
There seem to be two primary contributing factors:
- Duration of play. The longer I play, the more likely a crash is, typically coming after 1-2 hours.
- Suspend/resume. Between play sessions, I typically exit to main menu and then put the Xbox to sleep, and then resume gameplay later. A crash seems more likely after resume (but this could be the same as the first)
A few things I’ve noticed about the crashes themselves:
- there’s often a hint that a crash is coming soon in the form of gameplay beginning to slow down and stutter
- Builds with lots of visual effects seem worse (e.g., lightning shaman)
- The crash is almost always immediately after using a rift gate and then taking an action, particularly quest turn-in and movement skills
The most common crashes I see to experience are:
- Quest turn in at the end of act 2: unlock twin falls rift, return to devil’s crossing, talk to mornay, CRASH. On restart, quest is still ready for turn-in, but rift gate was not saved and have to re-run cronley’s cave
- Quest turn-in at the end of act 4: kill logghorrean, rift gate back to fort ikon, talk to ulgrim, CRASH. On restart, quest is reset and requires killing logghorean a second time.
- SR: too shards/runs in a single session will crash after returning to conclave of three, resetting progress.
