I don’t mind the skill on enemies wait a second then attack fine. But currently it isn’t like that it’s “safe” to attack then boom not and my sheet dps is 49k equals I’m dead in a second. There are a few other curses that do this to kill in seconds from skeleton warlocks but I can’t figure out what’s killing me as it happens to quick. HP is 9100, all resist above max save for poison at 77,pierce and chaos in 40’s (till I get black legion rep up for mankind vigil) stun at 67.
It’s beyond frustrating to be a wrecking house and basically invincible except from myself!! Reminds of the BS Iron Maiden skeletons in D2 that were a melee characters nightmare. More so in that game cause xp was much much harder to come by in high level. If monsters can be so over powered with reflec where is a build that can get that kind of dps from doing nothing but standing there and enemies kill themselves.
Adjust reflec damage from enemies to have a fighting chance to react.
You beat mobs and they just reflect damage.
It would be fine if the scale was the same but doing 100k damage to enemies and having only 10k hp is clearly dangerous.
Only 10% reflect from enemies and you just have to run from him just because of this.
Or maybe they don’t care about dying …
Maybe its an issue with trauma damage since its very hard to keep this kind of damage acceptable for us.
I Dont mind having any bleeding damage or others but trauma damage is cancer for ourself.
Trust me I would love too if it was clearer. You rush mobs because game is action oriented and I don’t want to come close to an enemy, try to see if it does not have such aura, going backward in case of and going back to kill him if not.
This reflect damage is clearly the most annoying thing and laziest way to kill players. Game is pushing to have more dps because otherwise you just cant beat enemies within less than few minutes for some tough guy. Facing an enemy and just beat him for half an hour is not fun at all and having great dps means you may die within a blink of an eye versus those painful insane reflect losers mobs.
My char is 75k dps and 13k hp. When I touch those loser, half of my HP is gone and sometimes HP potion cant heal me enough to cancel reflect damage.
As HighlanderDM said, trauma damage is a pain to deal with it for us and when you just kill yourself with your own attack, its like being electrocute just by breathing, does not make any sense.
I had to put Aether cluster on action bar to counter such situation.
It’s not just reflected damage though. These guys reflect everything.
If I flashbang and proc elemental storm whilst a reflect guy is standing on top of thermite mines and wind devil. The CC effects and RR effects get applied back to me.
I can easily drop a character if I’m not extremely careful. DoT builds also can apply some heavy damage back to the caster. Also DPS don’t mean shit, so let’s not bring that into the equation.
For example. If you are heavily debuffed and then foolishly hit an enemy with a high crit Clean Sweep you can easily drop your own toon. The heavy DoT applied afterwards will have you using all your “cheat deaths” if you survive at all.
Personally I don’t have a problem with reflect, nor do I see a problem with it existing.
From personal experience in about 20 clears of ultimate I have never gotten myself killed via reflected damage, even when purposefully attacking an archmage with mirror up.
For reference the only enemies I am aware of that have reflect damage capabilities are Possessed Archmages/heroes/bosses, those with the reflective title in their name, and the skeletal knight buff that puts a shield over their head.
I feel more than a bit perplexed by the issue, especially considering there are Devotion nodes that mitigate reflected damage, and some new items in AoM, I believe, also have this stat.
I have done 100k+ Cadence crits to reflecting mobs and have never died once. Heck, the thing i don’t like about reflect is that starts reflecting my CC, specially Aura of Censure Skill Disruption.
I didn’t really like Reflect in Diablo 3. GD is a bit worse since the amount of things reflected is greater which can broaden the spectrum of the effect of this status which can easily result in a death.
Now… instead of “Reflect” as it currently is working we have a myriad of “on hit” effects which could more easily be controlled and still be effective in deterring players from wantonly attacking their target. Could take the effect of what reflect looks like now and instead make it a temporary buff that has the on hit procs.
Oh i like that idea. Like give skeleton knights that hammers on block effect instead. Serves much the same purpose without becoming crazy dangerous to crit-dot builds (lets face it that is where most the issue is.)
Only trauma damage would kill you, if you kill yourself with a damage type where 80%+ resist is possible you’re doing it wrong.
And honestly I have tried extreme things like taking transmuted CT + inferno and converting all the damage to physical. Still couldn’t kill myself quickly, it takes 5-10 seconds and surely anyone can react in that time.
Not really with the legendary 2 handed dot weapons. A crit with a mythical guillitine (blade arc/tran, or cadence, or savagery + feral/upheavel) any of those would be enough to lay you out with bleed. Ditto for mythic stormreaver and combos. Not sure if there are items that could do it for poison/burn/frostburn but likely…
Keep in mind with those two mentioned that hitting half a million dot/sec might just be possible…
I can attest from personal experience that a single reflect can be a death sentence for my Guillotine Bloodrager. He’s the only character with a reflect problem, though.
Even then a few hundred thousand / sec for 8-10 secs (these weapons have 150%+ duration too go figure) is enough to eat up most if not all your health pool + a potiin + defensive devotions in some cases. Pretty nasty for one attack too many on a hero.
Probably the worst part about reflect is the way it can punish some builds vastly more than others (high dots, and to a lesser extent totems sense those keep shooting no matter what)
Well normally you can resist most of it, the rest you can get back with attack damage to health or health regen. If you have neither you would need to run yes.
There is only a problem if you do a damage type that you cannot resist yourself. Those builds would have issues that might need adressing yes.
Yeah, 500k ticks with EVERY dot sources combined. And if one proceeds to applying everything he has on a reflect mob AND doesn’t have the tools to deal with reflected dots (increased max. resist, health regen, reduced dot duration, Nullification/Cleansing Waters or the literal “reflected damage reduction” stat on some items, components, augments and devotion nodes) he probably deserves to die :).
And dot builds are amongst the strongest and most convenient in GD, i personaly don’t see a problem in them having the drawback of having to plan around reflect.
And i’m playing a lot of dot builds if you’re wondering about bias
FYI, totems are technically pets (their damage and other relevant stats are scaling with player bonuses but they’re still pets) so reflected damage would hurt them (if they wouldn’t be invulnerable of course), but not the caracter him/herself.
I just finished ult with my totem vindicator which i played exclusively since AoM released and i’m 100% sure about this, since my char takes literally no damage when totems/devils do damage to reflect mobs (until i start blasting them with storm box and stuff, obviously).
I would have been genuinely suprised if he did.
I did not cut the death moment. Frame by frame and I clearly died within one frame. No way to do anything, I dont see the point about reflection damage in that.
13k hp just vanish in one frame…
And do not hope for proc as health regen when life is 40%, 30% or whatever, its just kill you in one frame.
Both bleed and poison require insanely high resistances, as long as these are the best scaling DoTs.
Anything below 90% may be painful, and higher + to res is required even if you have to sacrifice damage to obtain it.
Poison reflect ticks hard through 95% res, speaking out of personal experience.
Flat damage builds are safer to reflect, if one dies it’s out of own stupidity, or stacks of hidden reflect in the heat of a fight.
http://www.grimtools.com/db/items/9356 for poison dot builds.
Reducing damage reflected stats/devotion/components.
Overcapping your resists of the damage type you deal.
Building tankier/more balanced (honestly see so many “game is too hard” complaints when they have -5% aether resist and 9k hp)
Having ohhh shit active skills/procs.
Dryad + Heart of the wild for bleed/poison reflect.
But the main one is watch what you are doing and don’t hit them when reflect is up.
I don´t have really overcapped Bleeding Resistance (83 %, 6 % Overcapped). But I have Heart of the Wild and I´m very careful when meeting reflective enemies. Skeletal Knights are annoying but I really hate enemies, who have a Shield “of Valor” equipped because I can´t see taht when I fight them…
