Regarding the Shattered Realm portals

I have seen s few threads (mostly over on Reddit) expressing dissatisfaction about the spawning of Shattered Realm portals after clearing a fragment, mostly relating to the time cost of needing to traverse significant portions of the map in order to use the portal.

From what I understand there are technical limitations that prevent the portal being spawned at the player location the way a personal rift does, so an alternative solution is needed.

I suggest that once the portal spawns the timer is frozen until the player enters the next fragment, while the player will still need to trudge across the map to reach their destination but at least they no longer need to worry about the sometimes tight limit of the SR timer.

I don’t think that’s prudent. Because you could just wait for all your circuit breakers (e.g. serenity) to reset without any penalty before going to the next level

That is a good point, perhaps a 10-20 second grace period, long enough to get to the portal but not long so long as to allow you to reset circuit breakers without penalty?

Something like blastshield has a 12s CD, and at deeper shards - time ceases to be a limiting factor. It’s really a question as to whether or not you’ll survive.

If time is hindering you, my genuine advice (and I hope I’m not being dismissive), is to level up/farm up more - because you’re not 100% ready for the SR.

EDIT: I almost always wait for circuit breakers to reset beyond shard 75, and I’ve never felt a time-crunch.

I am not having trouble personally, at least once past the first few shards, but I have seen others reporting having trouble and thought I would try my hand at coming up with a solution. Having said that my Mage Hunter melts through mobs extremely rapidly and I could see builds that kill more slowly (such as pet or hybrid builds) struggling to keep up with the timer

Okay. Gonna preface this by saying that I know what I’m about to say sounds very much like, ‘lol. l2p noob. get better’ that is really not my intention.

The crux of the problem isn’t the time limit. The real root of it lies in their build. Freezing the timer will only provide a temporary relief for a few shards before they are once again stumped.

It’d be akin to slapping a band-aid over a stab wound.

What might be useful is if you directed them to the guides/tutorials section where there is a bounty of information which can help them do just that.

If that still fails, asking for advice/suggestions on the forum will probably do the trick.

EDIT: That’s a good one maya

I just hate that the portal spawns miles away. Just make it spawn within near range of the player…

There are indeed technical limitations as to why the exit portals have fixed locations, but if you are on a level where you feel that you have to run an exceptionally long time to get to an exit, please report the level with a screenshot of where you were and where you had to exit and we can aim to improve that.
