[REL] Grimmer and Grimmest

I think this is related to changes in the camera pitch settings and have notes to put this back to default for next version. Will have a lot of work this weekend for Grimarillion (has Aslyum teased at all publicly what he is up to? Plus iirc Corn has an update). But once that is done, I will push out another Grimmest too with the new changes and we will hopefully be done with this disappearing loot issue.

i have a weird keymapping problem when using this mod : with my ranged heroes i use the key “” for stationary attack (i used it in d3 and all the arpg i play cause it’s near numeric and potions) in vanilla GD this gives no problem in grimmer and grimmest it makes my screens fade to grey and when i push again it goes normal colours again.

I really can’t figure out what the issue could be, any clue?

Not sure what kind of keyboard you have, but the fade to grey for me happens with the ~ key…not sure what that function actually is though.

In any case, I have no clue why this mod would alter your keybindings, that makes no sense to me at all. Sorry, maybe somebody else can help you out here.

This opens the in-game command prompt. I haven’t figured out how to use it yet.

yeah that’s the key and must be the command prompt which open “fading” the screen. I still can’t figure out how to avoid that. Well in the worst scenario i just use tab and change the open map key…

edit : i can confirm in custom game this happens while in vanilla it doesn’t

Yeah, I believe the purpose is to help debug mod scripts or something. They wouldn’t want it in Vanilla or people would probably find ways to enter cheat commands.

that makes 100% sense

I wonder if if there is a way for me to remap it.

Pulled Grimmest out of Grimarillion again. Calling it v0.9.

Besides all the changes to proxies, Grimmest now includes the Waking to Misery quest modification from Grimarillion. Check the OP.

Hello. I wanted to ask, if i will play grimmest latest version ^, will i be able to get new introduced items in version 1.0.0.6? I tried to go back to vanilla from playing grim legion, but enemies’ level not matching player level in vanilla is killing me. How am I even supposed to do most bounties on my first playthrough, when i need to run around at char level 45 killing enemies level 5-30 in acts 1-3, eh.

Grimmest should drop all loot from the game. I highly recommend Grimarillion over Grimmest as if you choose to play the vanilla classes, it is just like playing a Grimmest version of Cornucopia. But you can also mix with Zenith and Grim Quest masteries if you choose. You also get the Autopickup, which I find I would not be able to live without these days.

But if you only want Grimmest, it is here. Once I get some more feedback from the latest version of Grimarillion, I will have to update Grimmest. Maybe tomorrow. But your saves will remain compatible, so you can start now. I suspect that Ravna is bugged, a quest after Homestead. I honestly have not checked it in the currently available version of Grimmest, but it does come from a Grimarillion version that had a quest breaking bug with Ravna.

Thanks for quick reply, will look into that Grimarillion mod.

Okay, I’m sure I’m doing some stuff wrong, but I’m not sure what. I installed the Grimmest mod as well as the GDStash mod last night and I had a few issues. At first I just copied my characters from the save game file to the user file, but when I loaded the mod and played a bit, it did not save my progress. When I exited the game my char level was where it was before I started playing and new items I had just picked up were gone.

I then used the method described in the tutorial to do the symbolic links with my save game characters although I haven’t tried it yet. Does anyone know why the previous method of copying from save to user did not work correctly? And yes, cloud saving is disabled.

Also, when I play the mod, my stash tabs have been reset and I have to buy them all over again to unlock them. Is there a way to fix that? I’d rather not waste the money if possible

That all sounds like regular GD behavior for mods.

Assuming you want to transition your chars to the mod only once and not use them in vanilla any more, I would copy / move them to the mod folder (not symbolic link) and use GD Stash to set the flag that the char is a mod char.

As to the stash, copy the vanilla stash file into the mod specific stash dir and again use GD Stash to set the mod assignment of that file correctly.

Thanks for the response! A couple of follow up questions:

How do I “set the flag” in GDStash for the char and the stash? I’m not at home to look at it right now so it could be quite easy, but I just want to make sure I do it right.

Also, you’re saying just copy all of the stash files from the base game into the grimmest mod folder?

Lastly, do you have any idea as to why it didn’t save my progress the first time I tried the mod when I copied my characters from save to user?

not at home either, so I go by what I think it is

Load the char on the edit screen (not transfer), there should be a flag in the top left part about it being a mod char, set it

Also, you’re saying just copy all of the stash files from the base game into the grimmest mod folder?

not to the dir the mod is in, but to the dir the mod’s stash is in, should be My games\grim dawn\save<modname>

Lastly, do you have any idea as to why it didn’t save my progress the first time I tried the mod when I copied my characters from save to user?

not really, but I have read this before, I assume your regular char gained XP because there was no symbolic link (so it was a separate file) and the mod-flag of the char was not set, making GD save it in the vanilla save dir, not the mod save dir, but that is just my guess / assumption

I appreciate the info! I’ll tinker with it tonight and see if I can get it sorted out, thanks!

Grimmer v0.1.0 is now released.

This should not melt your PC, but it is also a WIP, so lets see what needs tweaking. There is a slight increase in spawns and an overall increase in difficulty because everything starts spawning higher and higher level than you.

Autopickup is included. You need to make a new toon. But it has the wakingtomisery cheat included if you want to start at level 2.

I cannot play it to see what happens. But if someone wants this merged into a version of Grimarillion, I first need to know how it scales.

How can I use this with DAIL - 057.1?
Do I just extract the folders and copy them over to the DAIL - Grimmsest (S) folder under mods in the GD installation folder?

Edit 1: I think i’m getting the hang of the whole mod system here for GD, It is quiet over-whelming for someone new to say the least.
This Grimmer and Grimmest seem to be an independent mod on it’s own. DAIL is another project that just collects multiple mods and makes them work together in a single package as far as i can tell.

About to try and play DAIL for the first time, just waiting on getting the DAIL - RIFT downloaded at my 2Mbps internet

Looking forward to it, will be starting from scratch so hopefully don’t have to deal with all that character progression etc issues.

I’ll update the grimmer/grimmest 1.0 into DAIL 58.

Thank you, looking forward to it
