Relics are the only craftable gear items that don’t receive the additional blacksmith stat bonus. Since relics can’t be rerolled with Ashes, they’re among the grindiest items to get good rolls on.
Getting the blacksmith bonus would be a nice little benefit in my opinion (could slightly offset the disappointment of getting bad rolls too.)
I wasn’t around on why it was excluded in the first place, but I don’t see how having a blacksmith bonus would be too OP or break the game. It would also bring relics in line with the rest of the craftable gear.
I can’t find the quote, and I may be very wrong, but I swear I read that they may add something more to do with relics later on. Maybe someone else knows more?
Adding blacksmith bonuses would be nice for consistency, but the bigger pain point with relics is definitely the completion bonus RNG. If Crate allowed us to reroll relic completion bonuses using Ashes just like other gear slots, it would solve the grind issue much more effectively than blacksmith stats.
different/older feature request they added Awakened Relics , Relics - Balance and Their Future blacksmith bonuses are different (likewise reroling the completion bonus a different non mechanic)
I don’t remember exactly if it was confirmed, or i’m mandela’ing it, but i feel like someone said at some point relics simply can’t get blacksmith bonus for some reason, even feel like part of the reason was tq engine “jank” or something, but might totally be something different and just arbitrary because completion bonus
^even GDstash that can slap blacksmith bonus on items that normally can’t get it, or affixes on items that can’t get it, can’t slap blacksmith bonus on relic, so there might be some inner limitation in the game files (occupying the same bonus slot perhaps? )
