Hey,
Somewhat new player here.
So this is the story:
I finished the campaign (FG included) on normal, elite and ultimate.
I have a level 100 char with the build I intended and I currently don’t see any reason to play :undecided:
Whats the point of doing crucible? or just wondering in the campaign? or doing SR if I have the stuff I want?
There is no point to look at drops anymore.
I started a new char and leveled it up to 40 and gave up…I don’t want to do the campaign a 4th time, I don’t want to grind for factions again…and whats the point anyway? once it will reach 100 I have the gear ready for it.
I must be missing something, I have 80 hours on record and people are playing this game for thousands.
Any advice?
P.S I enjoyed the game a lot, playing the campaign for the first time…
Well I like to become better at the games I play so it is natural for me to try to beat the game again and again and again. With different playstyles too.
You have mandates and experience potions which will help your next char(s) in the process.
A lot of the point for me is making new builds. I do that so often I rarely get out of Normal difficulty.
For others, it’ll be mini-maxing their builds, farming gear for other characters, fightning Nemesis bosses for loot, doing Crucible and/or SR to push their builds as far as they can.
Yeah I know, I have lokkar set and im level 40 and didn’t complete a lot of missions, because I don’t see the point.
Maybe its just me, don’t like beating a game again and again and again…and again…
I level my first legit lvl 100 character today, and am halfway through ultimate. I made other chars before that but they never hit ultimate.
I do fear that I also get bored of grim dawn, despite it being a masterwork, in my opinion at least. Crucible is also a lot of fun, but all the legendaries you get in crucible are kind of useless if you have a jackass build already. Only future characters can use them, but sadly only when they’re level 94, so the farming for legendaries is, as I said, useless if you have a build that can clear wave 170 (IMO).
If I am done with this char, I will create a new one and use a merit on him so I can start out in ultimate instead of going through normal and elite again. With the merit, you can visit any location from normal/elite, so that you can quickly farm your devotion points and get to level 50+ before hitting ultimate (Use double xp potion from malmouth). You also get quest skillpoints and inventory bags from the lower difficulties if you use the merit.
Else, I am still looking for a multiplayer partner so that I can use “worse” builds (Since multiplayer makes the story a bit easier).
Kinda seems to me like you’re not a fan of ARPGs. Not trying to hate or anything.
Basically, ARPGs are about doing new characters over and over again, doing main campaign 3 times for one character is boring, so we have merits that allow us to skip normal and elite, so we can have more fun. When you get your character to level 100, finish everything then you just try to get your build to the limits and farm with it. Or quit if you think it’s a boring build.
Perhaps you’ve had your fun with the game. It’s only a small minority of players that stick around as long as most people on this forum. Most players don’t see the replay value either, nothing to feel bad about.
The replay value is to farm/trade for items and start new builds with those items. If you don’t like trying new builds and repeating the campaign, afraid the replay value isn’t for you. Plus test those builds against the hardest content, just finishing the main story is not enough.
You can skip to Ultimate with merit tokens, but you still gonna have to repeat Ultimate with every character.
Basically this. Grim Dawn is a game with a lot of mastery combinations and skills. If you don’t feel it would be fun to play a different build then don’t play GD anymore (or only play the characters you like). Simple as that.
There are some pretty hard encounters that many builds will struggle with so there are those to beat as well if you couldn’t the first time around.
I just got my 2nd character to 100, and I have about 5 others I plan on doing. I get bored of playing the same character over and over. That being said though, I do plan on taking on the celestials and a few secret bosses, only beat Clone of John Bourbon as far as secret quests go. I have a lot left, and I use steam achievements as a benchmark, if I ever get all of them, than I would probably be done with the game, at least until a friend buys and wants to play multiplayer lol.
End game is really what you make of it really, if you feel your not having fun anymore and thats ok. Take a break, play some other games, and if you still feel the itch to come back, maybe start with a fresh character and see how it feels, or play your best character and do as many challenges as you can.
