Request for next patch to IGNORE weapon switch key if nothing is equipped in slots?

This is further to my post on the “Bug Reporting” category of summoned creatures that get UNSUMMONED when using weapon switch.

My topic was answered in the forum and the comments were valid and acceptable in the logistics and design of the game.

I have since changed my Sentinel to NOT EQUIP a secondary ranged weapon loadout now.
HOWEVER, I now have the problem that if I ACCIDENTLY, (and I unfortunately do this), press the weapon switch key, my Guardians disappear and my character is weaponless.

The weapon switch key ONLY seems to be valid if you have used the mouse in the character screen and have intentionally equipped secondary equipment? Once this has been activated there does not appear to be a way for the weapon switch key to be IGNORED?, as it does on a default character that has never been assigned secondary equipment.

Some may suggest just UNASSIGN the weapon switch key in the setup, but that does not work for me as I do have certain characters that have valid switch weapon loadouts. Accidently hitting the weapon switch key on these characters is no big deal as I have designed them to be efficient in either loadout and can just switch back anyway. The same applies to characters who have NEVER been assigned secondary weapons as the key does NOTHING. This is NOT the case with my poor deluded Sentinel who not only loses his summoned Guardians, but thinks he can run around and take on anything with his bare hands - a certain formula for a premature death

The easiest solution I can think of is that if a secondary weapon loadout has been assigned, but has been REMOVED (both slots empty) , is that it works like it does on a new default character. ie. The weapon switch key itself will do NOTHING.

But if you accidentaly hit the toggle key, wouldn’t it be simpler if you asign another key to it?
That would be a faster solution :stuck_out_tongue:

what if I want to teach dem nems what’s up with some good ol’ fisticuffs?

kuba better bust out his damn notebook, 'coz he bout to get SKOOLED.

To actually respond to the post… This is intended behavior. It was done so player could not abuse an exploit and gain bonuses/skill levels from gear to pets after removing said items.

@Valinov: Not trying to be a wise-ass mate, but what’s the relevance of your reply?

I’m guessing you’re referring to supercharging something like blade spirits before removing the items?

But there’s no weapon swapping in that scenario

yes just saying that is why the pets unsummon. Anytime you gear with +skills is remove (a swap counts as being removed) pets are un summoned

some people with unarmed mods might have trouble if your request are implemented. just remove the swap key in options everytime you play characters that get gimped when they accidentally switch weapons. just need several clicks to remove swap keys in options. simple.

I use it. Sometimes you can’t see stats on gear in your stash so you switch it to empty quick and you see.

Not really as the key is in the correct place for me and is normally used as intended with fast access. My point is that if you HAVE NO secondary weapons equipped it will still switch you to an unarmed character. This does NOT happen if you have never assigned and unassigned secondary weapons. I am just looking for a way to get back to the INITIAL default state whereby the weapon switch key actually does NOTHING.

Unarmed mods may be a consideration, but would they not be just using the first slot as unarmed? No point really switching from unarmed to unarmed?

The option to edit the config each time for this character is also workable, just have to remember to set it each time for different characters and is a little cumbersome considering that if I had NEVER tried assigning switchable weapons in the first place, I would not even have this issue.

Yes, that is also a usage, but that option is ALWAYS available with the mouse on the character screen.
My point is that after you have checked stats and then UNEQUIPPED the slots, do you really want the swap KEY to be active?

well if zantai or some crate dev says they can do it without complicating unarmed mods or some game mechanics, then its no problem.
