I’m playing a lvl 50 Soldier at the beginning of Elite without a second class that i plan on making some kinda retaliation toon out of. I was thinking two-handed warder, but i’m open to other ideas and would love to hear them. Wouldn’t mind tips on retaliation builds without soldier in it either.
Also had a few questions.
Is it smart having to much DA on a retaliation character, i mean if i don’t get hit, will i retaliate? If not then maybe i should prioritize other kind of defenses like armor, phys res or shield block (if i don’t choose a shaman as my second class).
Is it only +% retaliation damage that boosts retaliation or would for instance +% pierce damage also boost pierce retaliation?
The conversion is utter dogshit, physical Witchblade Retaliator would dish double the damage, while still maintaining retaliation aspect. This one, however, has very good retaliation itself, which is further supported by way more resistance reductions.
Due to the fact that we have to take Nanaan, this build lacks devotion points a bit. I would personally invest either in Tree or in Bard after expac.
King of Retaliation builds due to access to Fever Rage and good resistance reductions. Good damage too. Fluff is correct.
Again, lack of devotion points, in my opinion. Don’t mind 75% Chaos Res, as with expac, they go to Empyrion, giving all caps and even more damage! If you want to cap everything now, invest in Ulo instead of Solemn Watcher.
This one is getting updated, as soon as I get my hands on it, by the way.
Warder was a classic of retaliation builds.
To retaliate you must get a hit in melee, not a damage, so high DA, dodge and fumble prevents you.
Common and retaliation flat an % damage are different damage types.
@ OP it’s pure retal not hybrid and resistances are for ravager only, so you’d have to balance augments and components yourself to suit campaign. I’d also change the mercy ring since it was nerfed and switch to eternal band for some rr
The build was made purely to kill ravager as fast as possible
Thanks for all the great builds, gave me a lot to chew on. I was originally thinking 2-handed warder as i said, but since every build here uses shield and there are some really good shield retaliation devotion trees, I may have to rethink that.
Really exited about retaliation in this game. Wanted to make it rock in Titan Quest back in the day as well, but didn’t really work. Here there seems to be some real good builds for that.
PS. Remember you from titan quest too Medea Fleecestealer
I have been checking for good retaliation builds and I seen this mentioned here and there, and… please explain, I don’t really get it? Fevered Rage makes Bloody Pox do more health reduction and reduces DA, but also makes the enemy be faster and hit harder. But it does not offer any retaliation damage…
The only flat retaliation damage skill I found on Occultist is Blood of Dreeg.
Retaliation is vastly improved by having enemies hit 2.5X faster
it’s essentially a 100% increased total dmg multplicatively. You depend on enemy hits to kill. For example…would need some polish in 0.6
Ah, thanks a lot. So basically this means they should be able to hit you, though? Or retaliation works even if they miss due to your high DA, or whether you block by shield?
And also, where do you get flat retaliation damage? Any skill apart from Blood of Dreeg that grants that?
Get DA high enough not to be crit but low enough to be 100% hit vs Nemeses but just over 85% or so vs mobs.
You can go ahead and get crit by nemeses actually. It’s only vs ravager taht it really matters which is why i used Citadel in that video.
But today I’d probably use new bastion relic and get DA lower.
You can combine pierce retal and lightning. from gear and devotions. So far they are the best sources.
Aside from my hybrid setup. Dawnbreaker+3pc DAwnguard is also very popular and good. It will still have some pierce from messenger of War and Menhir
Okay! It’s just weird to me that if retaliation so powerful you can make builds around it, there are no skills that give you some base retaliation damage.
