Retaliation warder - help needed

While I’m aware there’s probably better class combinations in AoM for this purpose (like tactician or vindicator), I made this character back before the expansion hit based on this ancient build.

This is what I’m currently running with. I’m pretty satisfied with how it works - hits like a wet noodle and I’m pretty proud of that fact, since it simply will not die. I enjoy hopping on this character on and off to facetank mobs for everyone to dps burst on, and I only really suffer against any kind of mob that can dispel or mana drain me off my buffs. However, I can’t help but feel there’s some more juice to be squeezed out of the build.

One of my main concerns is the Avenger of Cairn getting heavily nerfed this last patch, and here’s my question:

Should I keep using my Avenger of Cairn?

Or swap it off for a Dawnbreaker amulet and complete the set bonus?

Any other tips on what gear, components, augs or devotions I could swap around would be greatly appreciated. Please note I have zero concerns in regards of anything offensive with this character, retaliation and survivability are the main points of the build for me

If you’re getting Dawnbreaker’s set, you could also pick Dawnguard pieces for more damage. Stack as much armor as possible, because your build has not too much of it (4444 with fully buffed retaliator is not that good, also 18% physical resist, you can be dying). With this you’re dealing, on average, 200k retaliation damage + you have RR (50% elemental RR). If fully buffed, you even double that damage, also, the armor stat is huge as fuck. Believe me or not, this took out Ravager in about 5 mins (don’t remember exactly how much, I made this build loooong ago).

Well, that sure is more greens that I expected to need to farm, but it should keep me busy until FG drops  Appreciate the pointer

I did consider going for a few dawnguard pieces to up armor a little bit, I get a few scares when fighting Ravager but those are generally overcome thanks to the half dozen or so failsafes the build comes with and their quick cooldown. Am kinda contrary to replacing Azragor’s armor, since I grew a bit too used to the buff I suppose. I like the idea of the character working as a bit of tanky retaliator with a side of support I guess

I’ll be sure to experiment around with the blues and purples I can craft while I seek out the greens. Any other recommendations would be welcome in the meantime

The greens are not as important, you can swap them with whatever looks good. Many people skip greens on retaliation builds, but if you get the good ones, it makes the character even OP. I’d still rather get these greens, though, I actually had both rings in my stash for ages and thought I can use them, then farmed the medal (for like 5 days).

Well, I found the blues and purples scattered across my mules, and I did a quick farm for a less-than-ideal Ikrix scale. Also removed my points on the autumn boar and got stone form and the 3 first nodes of the anvil. Can say the character has improved quite a bit across the board. Up over 6k+ armor, retaliation more or less at the same level (+1500% or so on all types) and the aoe effect added to counterstrike seems to be helping a lot when it comes to thinning hordes, specially since it gets those pesky caster/ranged types that won’t melee you

Nearly got Ravager (lost my pace when he was down to 1/3), when I used to not really make much of a dent in him before I was forced to run away, so I’d call that an improvement already. Gotta say this build is probably also the safest one I’ve ever farmed Rashalga on
