Rhykker finally posted a review on Grim Dawn:
It’s linked in the Videos section on the right of the forum.
Who do I have to sleep with to get my video series “Grim Dawn from a Diablo perspective” linked there? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIt8UTFgxas
I never noticed the videos section on the forum before. Guess we have 2 duplicate, unneeded posts about it now though…
Hmm. The first few sentences. “A game with more depth than Diablo 3 but not quite as much complexity as PoE…”. Not sure I agree with that statement; GD is equal or greater surely?
It is for sure just as complex as PoE
PoE has a quite intricate endgame map system though. But as far as char creation GD is just as complex.
I mean Rhykker is a GD noob, I am sure we can forgive him
That statement plus the fact “I have only 37 hours played” and I stopped the video. Nonetheless, Rhykker provides great diablo content and I hope this will have a positive impact on the numbers of GD-lovers.
Pohx also has some interesting arpg content and is more technical.
If you replace complexity with memes then he is right.
Also last lootboxes straight have some weird childish mtx that are worse than diablo 3, worse than mapplestory visuals… worse than anything. It doesnt belong in slightly grim wraeclast.
Remember golems? You die in shaper and you wait for 5min when your golems kill shaper WHILE you are dead. Poe is nothing but memes and bots and mtx that cost full game price because you are assumed to buy them not to use it but as to “support game devs” that are richer than a city…
Anyway, it is positive that these prolific ARPG content creators are doing GD content even if they are completely noobs they still can present the content in a pretty good way that is accessible to their thousands of followers.
Agreed, one thing about Rhykker, he loves Diablo-like games, so he may not be very knowledgable about GD, he will still try to see what he likes about it with the limited time he played it.
About PoE vs GD complexity, I feel that PoE is indeed more complex, and I will say even too complex. Because when you’re to the point that you have to combine gear management with currency management with map management, this is where I draw the line. Map management, grrrrr, I hated that, means I have to be good at evaluate EVERYTHING. To make a raw comparison with GD, at least I can restart a session when I roll bad mutators for SR and not feel too bad about it, whereas in GD, if I screw up a map, then I also lost all the currencies used to upgrade it, what a pain!
Edit : sorry, I got into a rant. To stay on topic, I do feel he makes a good point. GD’s complexity is just right.
You could probably sleep with Rhykker for that “edge”. I’m sure he could use the love after the Diablo Immortal fiasco shredded his hopes and dreams before his very eyes ;D

I do love his dark deep voice  no homo
Come on, the poor guy made some amazingly hopeful " secret Diablo 4 reveal?" videos that were quite fun to watch, his enthousiasm was kinda contagious, but his video reaction to D : Immortal was…well, for someone so positive to be so depressed, it was not pretty, I felt bad for him.
Having 500k subs would be a strong start.
He gave a very thorough run down of Grim Dawn mechanics, which we thought was helpful for anyone checking out the game.
Pretty sure couple thousands bought the game thanks to him:p
PoE is more complex in the way there are more things to micro-manage. When I heard “complexity”, I only thought of build theorycrafting. In this matter, I find GD richer. PoE building is pretty straightforward when you know the skill tree.
And you also point a very controversial issue: rng and lootboxes. Marvel Heroes Online (RIP), another arpg which I loved, had unfortunately this aspect.
