Yes. It’s Purifire. Because the build is practically my first successful fire build. After going through several builds, including some dual pistol ones, I decided to try using Aegis set. At first, I tried to follow Superfluff’s build here, but I didn’t have all the gears that are necessary to make the build works.
I tried to make do with what I did have: the Infernal Knight set. After spending some time polishing the build and improving the gears, the final piece (the Wyrmbone gloves) is finally in place.
Here is the build: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/RVvkRomZ.
Active Skills: Fire Strike (default attack), Thermite Mine (main damage dealer), Blackwater Cocktail and Flashbang (debuff), Word of Renewal and Inquisitor Seal (buff).
Passive Skills: Flame Touched, Vindictive Flame, Aura of Censure.
Procs: [from gears] Ring of Flame, Elemental Seal, Wave of Fire, Volcanic Wyrm’s Breath, Concussive Round; [from devotion] Eldritch Fire, Stone Form.
WPS: Bursting Round, Stun Blast.
Gears: The heart of this build is the combo of the Aegis of the Legion set (full set) and the Infernal Knight set (minus the belt). The combo gives us the protection of the shield and hefty bonus to Thermite Mine and BWC. We do lose some of that bonus due to opting to use Aegis’ Belt instead of the IK’s one. This is where the Wyrmbone Handguard gloves come in. This glove should have been in the IK set, due to the fact that its stats play nicely with the IK set. Other gears are there to round out stats and resistances.
Devotion setup: I went north east towards Obelisk of Menhir and Shield Maiden, then west to Solael’s Witchblade. I opted to get as high shield block chance as possible, as a result I couldn’t get to Elemental Storm. But it’s okay, we still have BWC RR debuff to shore things up. There were several left-over points that I used to round out Poison Res and some more defense.
Pros:
- Nice mob clear time;
- Can kill all the bosses and nemeses of the main campaign, only untested against Mog’s Avatar and the Ravager. We have more than 100 Fire RR, even Lokarr’s fire resistance will be negative if he stood on top of our Thermite Mines;
- Easy to play, you can play under intoxication and still clear most of the end-game content.
Cons:
- Be wary of Freeze and Stun monsters. Being frozen or stunned means we cannot use our shield, which is our main means of protection;
- Be careful of ground DOTs, our health regen is decent but not great. Shields don’t block ground DOTs, so if you see a blood pool, acid pool or magma fissure, move out.
How to play: Facetank. Put down an Inquisitor Seal, stand on it, start shooting. Spam BWC, Flashbang and Thermite Mines. This build can facetank Lokarr; heck, the only way this build can kill Lokarr is by facetanking him. Grava is still PITA, but the same approach applies: facetank him, until he gives the tell of that Nullification Balls of his, then move out of the way.
That’s it! All comments and critiques are welcome.
