Ritualist (Necro+Shaman) hybrid pet/vitality ?

Hi everyone !

Im working on this http://www.grimtools.com/calc/gZwRkelV (it’s purely theorycraft actually)

I never play hybrid pet build, but I read somewhere we need a pet with our same damage type and use buff/debuff/aura/devotion can boost our damage type.

It’s viable char ?

I’m trying something similar but using Occultist because of all the vitality damage and I’m using drain essence.

Something more or less like this.

It’s definitely hybrid using pets, drain essence and doom bolt.

I’ll hybrid it up more with devotions but I haven’t decided yet how to do it properly. I’m using twin fangs on drain essence and it works pretty well and I have one pet devotion running.

By the way don’t take the numbers in the calc too seriously, it’s just an idea of what skills I’m ultimately going to use.

I’m lvl 30 now so I’ll see how it goes :stuck_out_tongue:

I personnaly hate drain essence :open_mouth:

I’ll want shaman because I very like both totems (storm morphed in vitality and wendigo for damage + heal) and i find it match perfectly with a Necromancer (in terms of style, bone totem :D).

I explain my choice :

-Necromancer-

Raise skeleton (and morph) - lot of “meat” shield (more bone shield xD) with vitality damage
Reap spirit - another “meat shield” with vitality damage
Bone harvest & soul harvest - vitality damage + slow + pet buff
Master of Death - powerfull pet boost and it convert some physical pet damage into vitality

-Shaman-

Devouring Swarm - nice vitality debuff which profit you and your pet
Storm totem morph corrupted storm - freaking good “tower” with high vitality damage
Wendigo totem & blood pact - another “tower” with low damage but can heal (especially your minion).

I like it even though the theme of draining essence while pets tank really apeal to me. Vulnerability will hopefully be a good enough defuff for me.

Doom bolt for hitting one target hard.

I might just try your flavour out sometime though.

Sometimes I wish wind devils could convert to vitality…

I don’t think “hybrid” builds work very well, since gear/devotions are all very different (IE. almost all your devotions will be “pet focused” which won’t help much for yourself, etc.

You could take a look at my post for some ideas, I’m running a Ritualist with great success, making good use out of the Wendigo and Blood Pact for +vitality damage, and Devouring Swarm for -vitality resist.

Maybe you can drop some points for more into a second damaging spell. Honestly though even with 17/16 in Devouring Swarm, and Bat devotion attached to it, I do like 5% of my total damage compared to the 95% that my pets deal.
