Just something super weird that happened to me. I have farmed Salazar at least 10 times on normal and around 6 on elite. He has never dropped his blade. Did a Crucible run and, bingo, I get it from a Conqueror’s trove. Anyone else experience this? I had no idea MIs could drop from anything else besides the boss they are assigned to.
You can find the vast majority of Boss MIs in Crucible or SR as well. Exceptions being pretty much all of the Epic/Legendary ones and Kaisan’s MI that I recall, all others including Nemesis ones though are fair game. Due to the randomness of what drops in Crucible/SR though, Campaign may still be better for target farming specific MIs en masse. Crucible/SR are great for getting a mix and sometimes some unexpected treasures though.

Are you sure your item filter wasn’t filtering it out?
I once did ~50 Salazar runs trying to get his blade - only to learn that it is a dagger, not a sword, despite the looks (and my item filter was only showing swords, not daggers…).
