This is going to be a bit of a long stretch but I’ve searched far and wide and have come up empty handed, but is there a way to edit a character to “unflag” it from a DLC?
I have been playing AoM multiplayer with some friends (still only midway through vanilla game), enjoyed it so much that I decided to buy and install Forgotten Gods. I loaded up my character, hosted a game and they can no longer join due to not owning Forgotten Gods.
I Googled for a fix and deselecting the DLC from Steam or using /nogdx2 works for us playing multiplayer, except the fact the character I was playing with is now flagged as a “FG” character and no longer appears in the character list.
I’ve tried using GD Defiler, GD Edit, GD Stash and none have an option to “unflag” the FG state from a particular character.
It seems ridiculous that all I did was host a game with a character, not do any quests or pick up anything, not even move, and yet that character is broken so I can no longer play it with my friends - short of them also buying the Forgotten Gods DLC.
Can you create AoM character (using this /nogdx2 option or deselecting dlc)?
If so you could try to recreate your character using these programs.
First level up, then add attributes/skill points/devotion points (OA/DA increases automatically), copy items after that.
You would have to set reputations though and I don’t now what to do about campaign progression…
The only ‘solution’ to this problem I can think of is recreating your toon in AoM using these programs (if it’s possible to create AoM toon in the first place [by deselecting FG or this /nogdx2 option] and copy items from your FG char)
The game made a backup of your char, which you can use without FG. The name of this backup starts with two underscores instead of one before the character name. If you do not have custom paths you find your local files at one of these locations:
[/INDENT]
Move the FG save game folder to a different location. You can remove one of the underscores of the remaining folder, but I believe this step is not required. Any progress you made with this char in FG is of course lost, but I understand there has not been any.
I’ve somewhat tried to do this but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to easily transfer items from a FG toon to a AoM one. It seems even the in-game shared stash are separate from AoM and FG, you cannot directly transfer between the two. I’ve tried using the GD Stash program and I don’t understand it at all, I really wish it was as intuitive as TQVault.
The game did this for vanilla > AoM, but sadly doesn’t do it (again at least) for AoM > FG. The double underscore version of my character is pre-AoM which is something I guess, but very far back in terms of hours played, XP, gear, loot etc.
Since there are 3 stashes - transfer.gst (Forgotten Gods), transfer.cst (AoM), transfer.bst (base game)
when you recreate your AoM toon, you should have at least items from transfer stash (if not it’s not a problem anyway [read below])
Now you can add the rest items quickly in the following way in GD Stash
(I’ve actually just learnt this as I’m writing)
Select ‘Char transfer’ tab
Select your FG character
‘Copy entire page to DB’
Select your AoM character that you’ve recreated
Click ‘Search’
Select ‘All items’ in Item info, also select every Misc. type (so that every item type is selected)
Click ‘Search again’
You now have all the items listed on the left and you can copy them easiliy by selecting item from the list and clicking in the inventory/character stash.
You can do similar stuff in ‘Stash transfer’ tab if you want to transfer your stuff from FG Transfer Stash to AoM Transfer Stash for some reason.
I don’t really know how FG dlc installation affects GD Stash (if you import database in GD Stash configuration tab with FG installed you get items from FG and vice versa? how will Grim Dawn react to items from FG if you uninstall FG? Probably not a big deal since most of your stuff is from AoM anyway, just informing of the possiblity of importing database from AoM and FG. Don’t know if it makes any difference in your case.
