In a game though, it looks like it’s smiling. That’s not really introducing the player to a feeling of fear and awe.
edit; while speaking of scary(ish) monsters, i did stain my underwear with Typhon for the first few times. Also Chimeras in Stalker - Call of Pripyat, and Ashbeasts in Risen. Their appearance and deadliness match, i find dangerous-looking but easy to kill monsters to shred game credibility quickly.
The other way around works though, i forget the name of the green man-like beast in Gothic 3, you’d never expect them to pack a punch. Shit this isn’t a goblin…
It is smiling, but in a evil maniacal kind of way…sort like “Not only am I going to tear you apart and eat you, but I’m REALLY going to enjoy it!”

I was watching Legend (old Tom Cruise movie) last night with the kiddies, and I think the troll in that movie is pretty freaky/scary. Another monster that seems funny in a way about enjoying/playing with what it intends to eat

I always thought that guy was a little bit over-designed and highly specialized. I mean… how does he eat? How does he unzip to go to the bathroom? What happens when he rubs his eyes when he is tired? Inquiring minds want to know!
Anyone with nipples chained together doesn’t need to do any of those things.
Since he probably holds some rank in the Persian army, he gets hand fed by sex slaves

Great screens, loves most the one from Killing fields, at least the new type of enemy :). Keep up good work.
Luvverly pics, I especially like some of the funky effects. Would love to see more dramatic lighting caused by the green beam etc, but yeah. Nom!
Looking over the new screenshots again, I noticed a couple things of interest.
In the latest Necropolis picture, what is the creature/thing to the PC’s southwest? It looks like something moving to attack the player, but does not appear to be a zombie. Are my eyes deceiving me?
Also, in the burrwitch01_lrg picture, the one with all the reddish/orange explosions around the player, I am seeing something bright pink on the left side. It appears to be on, or possibly held by, the lower of the two zombies approaching from that side of the screen. Is that a weapon? A graphical glitch? Something else perhaps? It just looks so bright compared to the other colors around it.
I think that’s a flower… it’s part of the terrain lol
Ahh yes, think I see some on the right side of the shot now as well. Oh well, wishful thinking.
