Hi all,
I’ve made a topic about the Seal of Shadows which received a change since then and I decided to retry it today. The problems remains the same for me.
The blades get in the way of absolutly everything, making it not fun to use.
Not sure if designed for caster or melee but it feels clunky to use for melee, and probably casters because of point 1.
Here’s a solution that would make it fun to use:
The Mythical Demonslayer’s Life-Ender proc called Slayers blades have exactly the animation i’d like to have for the Seal.
Make it a skill on a longer CD (longer then 0.5 sec…) and last about 3-4 secondes or make it a proc and lower it’s values.
Dont need to change cd its ok, problem is that blades gets destroyed by terrain/walls. I am testing wh with 2 of them right now and dmg wise it seems decent for just a component. I have seen crits for 50k on usual mobs and crits for 70k on humans thanks to anatomy of murder. My suggestion is to change blades so they dont just disappear after hitting different objects like devotion proc Guardian`s Gaze for example, eyes form proc still swirling around even if they hit wall/rock(insert any object here)
Simple solution:
Reduce Weapon Damage component to 15% and remake the skill such that it becomes a proc at 15% chance on attack instead of an active skill.
I hope they dont do this. Its will be just lazy solution for the problem. And we already have like million similar procs (elemental balance, exec blade, reign of fire and ice). I like that this is castable skill, it opens unique playstyle where you stack layers of those blades to deal dmg. As i said early the problem is that blades disappear after hitting terrain.
Seconded, I like procs but being able to cast these unique blades make them awesome
I would also prefer the other solution that was suggested in this this thread i.e increase duration of blades to allow us have multiple blades up
Additionally Acid Casters are plenty, it’d be better if the component and the skill itself focused solely on Pierce damage. We dont have much variety for Pierce Casters atm.
What do you mean Pierce damage? We got Seal of Blades for Pierce Damage.
For Acid and Poison damage, the best option seems to be Vitriolic Gallstone or something like Seal of Blades/Seal of Might (melee).
The only reason to use the Seal of Shadow is to make some funky builds based on Biting Blades as main attack or maybe mage based on CD skills. I mean if you can really do 50K per blades AOE, it’s not bad besides the blades getting stop (disappear) by everything.
If the devs want the actual Seal of Shadows to be used by more builds than they need to make the skill with higher CD and make the Blades not disappear when Hitting terrain, walls, ect.
I mean we could use a Pierce Caster skill for once. Anyways that’s just a personal preference
The damage isn’t too shabby yes, the blades disappearing is the main problem. Imo for max QoL they should also increase duration of the blades which will probably get solved by them making the blades not disappear upon collision. Naturally an increased CD would be needed for balance.
If they removed crashing and reduced CD to zero then we could shotgun anything in the game to death. At zero CD the skill would be similar to that time Dreeg’s Gaze devotion procs were bugged and you could get 10-20 eyes around you
As for seals, I like them but I still don’t think they’re potent enough w/o nukes for end game. This is why I personally would like an item that gives us a skill strong enough to tackle end game w/o nuke dependency similar to WK helm and Obsidian Hammer
Not really because you would be limited by your casting speed. Also the blades spiral outwards and they do not stay next to you so you can’t actually stack them.
This skill is completely subpar in my opinion. The damage and CD and everything is fine. It is the way it swirls out in a pattern that seems to miss most enemies. When I used it it was not piercing the enemies. A better idea might be to have it just perform a short orbit around your character or turn it into a caster projectile that travels in a straight line. They have some amazing procs on items and things like obsidian tremor which also looks cool. This one though for the cost to make the seal and the fact that it only works in wide open areas makes it underwhelming and disappointing and at the level you can make it it should be having more of an impact.
