Searched but confused on getting a Necro build.

I’m just starting out in the game. Loved Diablo 2 , HATE HATE HATE Diablo 3.

I would just like to build a D2 style necro with tons of pets/minions.

I realize there is no true Necromancer class in the game but where do I begin? I see talk about mods & hybrid builds etc.

So a little frustrated because I don’t know where to begin since there is no true Necromancer?

So where do I start?

(just a little confused because I never used mods in D2 over all the years i played with friends. It seems like now mods are more common. I’m guessing used online as well?)

There are tons of pet builds that don’t need undead summons, just look in the build compendium.

Occultist and Shaman are the masteries you should look into. Does not have to be that combination necessarily, but one of your two will be at the very least.

OK, although it seems like with those combinations I would be able to have what 5-10 pets/minions total?

If I wanted way more than that, somewhat closer to D2.

Which mod would be needed that would also allow online play?

Or you can wait for them to reveal the 8th mastery :wink:

I seem to be out of touch. Is this 8th mastery coming in 1.0.0.8 or will it be in the expansion? I read something about an inquisitor. Thought that was the new mastery?

the expansion will include the 2 new masteries the inquisitor 7th mastery and the ??? 8th mastery and the continuing of the story, with an new area, new items, lore etc etc
