First post so hopefully I’m doing this right… (not really first post now - had to submit the other three).
I’m looking for some advice on how I could make this build a little less squishy without losing too much DPS. I’m not too concerned around gearing as I have acquired most pieces (I think!) but it’s starting to get a little rough in Malmouth on Ultimate.
I have particular interest in getting feedback on the devotions. I have a little shy of 1000 hours in the game and I still find getting the right devotion layout a bit funky.
Get rid of some of the blue and purple items that gives low amount of resistances for better greeens. You need some resistances overcapped, aether and lightning in particular.
Your skills are wierd, I would focus on Ravenous Earth before Foul erruption since the foul erruption only kicks in when monsters die of RE.
Your rings have wierd aguments, and one ring has no augment at all. Get survivors ingenuity in all.
What damages do you wanna deal? It seems like a mess of acid, vitality and chaos to me. If you are focusing on poison you should grab murmor devotion proc.
I swapped out the boots, pants and rings, played with the augments, and managed to natively overcap all resistances. Changed a few skill point allocations as well.
I’m mostly focused on poison/acid, vitality is secondary and chaos is incidental. I have a full dreeg set but I wanted to try and make something of the dark one set. I looked into Murmur but it didn’t quite seem to support what I was after.
I put survivors ingenuity on the rings but it kinda looks underwhelming. I’ll give it a go for a while to see if it works out but I would have thought rotflesh powder to be more effective.
That vitality cabalist link you sent was pretty handy - thanks for that. Got me thinking a bit outside the box.
Murmor reduces acid resistances and have nodes that gives +% acid dmg, if you are dealing acid damage this is what you want xD
I meant that your should try to cap resistances with green items and components first, then you should aim to use ingenunity in rings/amulet and ravager eye in weapon/off-hand.
I would ditch voidheart ring for something more defensive.
Dark One is primarily a vitality set and is best for Ravenous Earth as main skill. You’re trying to make something of a vitality/acid multiskill hybrid. Such builds do exist but they are never strong. Even if you manage to double your defensive stats you’re still gonna die often because weak builds that can’t kill fast die. Before you jump into weird niche build you should try some mainstream stuff: here’s one of the ways you can do Dark One RE Cabalist. (Here I got rid of the impossible boots: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/YNnlqEbV)
Thanks everyone for the feedback. With the changes I made I’m now fairly comfortably cruising through with my unorthodox multiskill caster. I have a bit of an aversion to focusing too heavily on a particular damage type.
Didn’t want to go too much into the Vit side of things as I already have a DK wearing the BK set. I’ve been trying to create chars with a bit of diversity (although I fully admit I have a bunch of necromancer crosses because hey, necromancers are comedy gold).
Noticed that there’s a substantial difference between GT uploads and what I actually have on hand, stats-wise. Thought I’d attached a cropped screen.
