Shattered realm pet peeve for fresh start people

it may have already been suggested (couldnt find any post) but the season league mod condensed shattered realm which to my knowledge has been very well received. quite a lot of people seem to enjoy fresh starts but the shattered realm grind really discourages that. what just came up in magis stream is how d3 did it with greater rifts where time left is factored into how much farther you advance next stage which severely reduces the grind. would be nice if gd could adopt either way or something similar.

You just need to do all the levels with one of your characters and you can unlock plans to skip the levels you want

Yes but that defeats the whole ‘fresh start’ goal. I personally love the fresh start but the SR grind certainly puts a damper on things. You can always GDStash the waystone blueprints but that kind of crosses the line.

then do a fresh start, but before you do so keep a single legit made stone ?

like, you have ways to deal with this without “breaking” SR as it currently exists, just to save time on technically alt chars “but fresh starts” because you wanna skip stuff: then utilize the current skip stuff

This change would not break SR. I never finish shards within timer anyway.

this change would not break SR “for you:neutral_face:

I am sorry but I do not know how to fresh start but with specific stones/blueprints. Renaming the save file gets rid of all inventory and especially importantly – learned blueprints. Is there a way to fresh start with specific blueprints (celestial/haunted waystone) but others all gone?

i’m saying make a stone, and keep it
before you make your fresh start char, make a death’s waystone or celestial waystone, plop it in share stash
now make the char you intend to go fresh start on, go into crucible, open stash, take the way stone, exit to main menu, now delete your stash and blueprint file
start MC with the char

So within the ‘save’ folder there is a ‘main’ folder where the actual characters are. Also in the save folder are several other files - formulas.gsh, formulas.gsh.bak, formulas.gst, formulas.gst.bak, transfer.gsh, transfer.gsh.bak, transfer.gst, transfer.gst.bak, transfer.t00, transmutes.gsh, transmutes.gsh.bak, transmutes.gst, transmutes.gst.bak. Assume you mean to wipe all of these out because the actual waystone is stored in the character file in the ‘main’ subdirectory? I don’t want to break the game.

yes?
i don’t understand the confusion?
how do you normally make a fresh start char? - asking for clarification since seems like you don’t know what i’m remotely talking about despite doing fresh starts?

formula files contain the blueprints, transmutes contain illussions, transfer contains shared stash,
so if you went into crucible to take the waystone to put in char inventory/personal char stash, it will be there when ready to “proper” start game clean, regardless if you removed/moved the other files

Gnomish - I explained above. I simply rename the save folder which effectively wipes the entire folder out. This is the technique that I got from youtube videos by Rektbyprotoss, Malagant, and Arcadelife. Never have I ever manipulated or deleted individual files within the save folder. So if there is a simple way to do this - for example deleting all files within the save folder itself and leaving the ‘main’ directory with the individual characters alone that will work in this case then I am all for it. Otherwise a Shattered Realm grind is required for ANY fresh start character (to get 3 skill points and 1 attribute point) or one has to resort to GDStash to avoid the grind.

you can still just rename the save folder, but then do it after you created your new char for fresh start and took the stone in its inventory
after renaming the save folder you simply copy the char folder over into the new folder
either way works, personally i just move the transfer/formula files

well, if someone wants to have a new beginning they have to accept the pros and cons, if you stick with plans or something else it wouldn’t be a new beginning
