I know Diablo 3 did this a while ago, and it failed (in IMHO because they accepted real money). However do you think that this game should have an actual auction house that you can use to take your in game currency and try to find the loot you need for very specific gear (Ie. resist gear) or do you think it would be a mistake.
No. Offline game. Such a system couldn’t work.
Not really something to be put in the base game
However someone will probably make a mod like TQ ShopMI mod that allowed you to buy any item with the most desired affixes

I don’t really think it is needed and I suspect that many of the GD user-base (myself included) would not want it. It would not bother me if it were in the game, but I can’t say that I would make use of such a system.
Are you serious? Oh God
No, just NO, why would you even suggest this, Diablo 3 auction house as you mention was THE WORST, I cannot stress this enough how bad of an idea this was, tying loot drop frequency to the auction house, it turned every single player into a gold farmer, that was the only thing you could do if you wanted decent loot because it sure as hell did not drop for the normal player. The greed monkeys at blizzard sure as hell screwed every single player that was out there for some extra profits and ofcourse eventually lost most of them.
The Poll Man is back, with another stupid topic…
Congratz !
considering there are modding tools and mods that will allow anyone to either cheat in gear, or or increase stats, because of this, an auction house will fall flat on its face. I think with the fiasco around D3, I suspect many people will be wearly of having anything similar, either with real money or ingame. Plus for this to work, the game will have to be online to get rid of cheating, that isn’t going to happen.
It’s an offline game. I would really hate to have an auction house in game.
Seriously!!! the legendary crafter is not enought?
Actually, I had no problem with the Auction House, the issue was, as you said, loot frequency.
An AH can work if it is only there to supplement your build, i.e. you use it to fill in holes.
The problem with D3 was that people had to use it exclusively because of how hard it was to find good loot in the world. I played from release and I never found any loot to help my barb move past Act I inferno. I had no choice but to look to the AH for gear. Of course, I didn’t have the money to buy any of it, so I had to farm over and over, till Blizz made unique monsters drop trash loot.
At that point I was finished with D3.
I can’t see, since the game is already released, an AH being a good use of Crate’s time.
I’d rather they fix issues in the game already.
You want to take one of the worst ideas in ARPG history and add it to Grim Dawn? Please no. The D3 AH didn’t fail because it accepted real money, although that was part of it. It failed because loot farming games don’t need an auction house. If you want something, you can always trade for it.
Hell no, what the f*ck?!
I made this post to prove a point, and now I am quoting myself above to show you.
Do you ever see me say that I am pro or anti auction house?
This is very interesting. I am actually strongly against the auction house, as it takes away from the hard work and excitement of finally seeing that rare item you are looking for drop. Also, I am very well aware that with a single player game it would not work.
If you go back and look at the posts from CDQUINT, and Halldojo you will see that they attacked me, thinking that I was PRO auction houses due to the fact that I made this post.
This only proves that if you use key words (ie. auction house, in game currency, real money transactions, cheating, etc) people are going to turn their nose up to you.
So now that you guys know my actual opinion on the matter, what do you have to say now?
More I read your topics and answers Simzodon, more I think about " Martyr complex"
FYI : " In psychology a person who has a martyr complex, sometimes associated with the term victim complex, desires the feeling of being a martyr for his/her own sake, seeking out suffering or persecution because it feeds a psychological need "

That an auction house is still a stupid idea for Grim Dawn and should not be mentioned.
I made the post to prove a point. I made another post about save file sharing and was attacked continuously. So many people on here are pretentious, and you are now saying that certain things should not even be mentioned. I was asking about an auction house, which was the worst thing that has ever happened to ARPGs, but people treat it like I was saying we should all go out and murder a puppy.
You are right though, even with freedom of speech and the title “open discussions” you should have to filter your questions. Even if you have an opinion that most people agree on, you cannot talk about it.
You are only making yourself look like an idiot.

As others said, this is an offline game where mods, game modifications etc. will come in droves once the tools are out.
Regardless of what one thinks of AH as a form of trading items… it makes no sense talking about it in the context of offline games.
If there were some kind of regulated servers where everyone was playing the same exact version of the game (aka D3, POE) this could maybe be relevant.
I don’t, but I like the term and currently work with a lady who does have this problem. I am simply pointing out how people in forums sometimes say things that are constructive, and sometimes people just act like a know it all smartass. Not saying you, because I respect your opinion. Others, they dont leave opinions, they only turn their nose up at others as I mentioned before. Or even sometimes they will leave an opinion for 7% of their post and the other 93% would be to showcase how witty they are with non substantial, empty comments
