Played a cold Spellbreaker using Mythical Beacon of the Winter’s Veil and an acid retaliation Sentinel with RATA acid Judgment using Mythical Dreegalanore, feels like these weapons are inferior to other options for these playstyles? I feel like these items could be improved in these ways: Beacon gets some casting speed instead of thematic Freeze Resistance and increased Olexra area/cold Devastation/cold Phantasmal Blades support, Dregalanore gets some attack speed and mods to Righteous Fervor. What do pro builders think? Should these weapons be improved?

Is used successfully on exactly one strong build from what I know and it’s a non retal dervish by grey-maybe. It’s a weird weapon suffering from this philosophy of “Every weapon can be anything” (like caster pistols or maces). Like you really want sword and board and cdr for your retaliation builds, two-hander with no cdr is probably the worst option you can think of. I think it needs either cooldown reduction or some kind of speeds to be more useful.
I think it needs speeds and some kind of Nightblade’s mod. Right now it’s a bit of a meme tier weapon.
Dreeg’alnore and frankly all two handed retal themed weapons are a pain to build with, since retal really wants a shield. Both this sword and Infernal Brimstone suffer from this, you can buff them as much as you want but they’ll never be a shield. I don’t think they’re fixable because of this.
is the opinion that “retal needs a shield” purely because of 3 block devos? or something else? - if it’s the devos seems like a simple “when hit tweak” could solve that mebe?
alternatively allow unique block interaction with brimstone/dreegalnore/retal 2handers ?
Not having a shield means you can’t use:
- Shieldmaiden
- Anvil
- Autumn Boar
- Obelisk
Without all of those, what have you got left? Vire, basically. Enjoy.

and you can still go obelisk, just not the dope proc

Point is, half the standard set of retal constellations are gone. Nothing you could put on those two handers can compensate, without going completely overboard and ending up with an overpowered weapon.
sooo back to a wee simple tweak “when hit by melee attacks” could fix it? from my first mention
if that’s all that holds back non shield retal, seems like it could be relative easy standardization - while also opening up devos to more alround use perhaps

seemed like a solid concept, unfortunately held back a bit by special DEE interaction causing it to lose all WD/33% DEEdmg 40% of the time

Having leveled a dervish specifically in order to use Dreegalanore, a lot of pain stems from oathkeeper/nightblade gear assuming you’re either using a shield or dual wielding. All the skill bonuses go to waste.
I thought a similar thing today and would love to see this.
I agree Mythical Beacon of the Winter’s Veil needs some speed. I get that it has no %attack speed because it’s primarily a frostburn DoT item, but then it doesn’t give cooldown reduction so you can’t deal more damage with other frostburn sources like Shadow Strike or TSS. OFF is primarily anti-trash mob so the modifiers don’t help much.
That being said, I’ll keep dual wielding them because the ice orbs are too fun.
Mythical Bacon of Winter Whale definitely deserves sth. 100% freeze res is obsolete since you probably have another 200% from different items, speeds are very much needed. Maybe add sth like 14% AS/CS, increase flat CD to OFF and remove RR. Maybe some extra FB to it would be nice.
Is there even any end-game build that really utilizes OFF… I feel like it’s just never used as it’s only effectiveness comes from freezing trash mobs, which are usually not a problem at the late stages of the game. The fire RR looks good on paper but since it only applies to frozen mobs it does not seem worth it to put points into the skill. Yes, bosses can be frozen too, but for how long… Would be much better if the RR duration is separate from the freeze duration. Lower the RR to compensate
Depends on the boss it can be a few seconds. And it interrupts their attacks. Not worth it just for that obviously.

Since I’m feeling in luck after that suggestion was approved, perhaps Olexra’s Chill could get a little bit of attack speed too? We need to auto-attack in between ABB explosions so having 0 speed bonus is tough. I’m thinking from the perspective of a Spellbreaker here, not Reaver, so no attack speed from Bloodfrenzy and no Onslaught charging to keep you busy.
