I’ve started a new settlement, so I can experiment with whether certain bugs will persist (my money’s on yes, they will, sorry to say). Found another one. Not liking the suggested name (GLUMDON – really a downer of a name), I wanted to change it. I used the delete key to get the old one out, and the N would not delete with the others. I tried the backspace key, but nevertheless, the N persisted. I tried highlighting the N and hitting the delete key. Nope. Still there. For now, I’ll pick a name that ends in N. LOL!
That’s odd. I noticed that one letter would persist when trying to delete the entire name, but I’ve had no issues deleting the last letter. Have you tried CTRL+A to highlight everything, then backspacing/deleting?
Either way, it’s a bug nonetheless.
Yes, I highlighted and tried to delete. No soap. It’s weird! It may be that the letter that persists is random, and in my experience it was the last letter that was chosen this time. Anyway, try as I might, I could not get rid of it. Thank you for taking the time to answer me.
The issue is that we prevent invalid town names from being entered, where blank is also an invalid name, so the last letter always gets left behind so you can’t leave it empty.
We’ll hopefully get around to polishing this so it’s more clear.
Interesting. Is this new? Because this is the first time I’ve had this happen. H’mm. So do we always have to pick a town name that has the same last letter as the unwanted suggested name? Or does that last letter disappear when you enter a new name? Instead of this last-letter thing, could you maybe have a popup with “Invalid town name” as the message? That might be less confusing. Anyway, thank you for answering. I’ve been in too many forums where I get ignored, and the friendliness in this forum of mods and participants alike is refreshing!
Once more letters are entered, you can get rid of that remaining letter.
