Since you agreed to use their client I am sure. They already have your credit card and access to all of your emails and media collection, so I am guessing it was just a very important security update. People seem to not realize they have never “owned” a game or software in the history of games and software. You have a limited license to use it and that necessarily comes with a set of quid pro quos. Sometimes it is in the interest of the developer for the software to be up to date. Welcome to 2017.
I logged on, offline, and nonetheless was forced to update.
That is pure bullshit.
There is no reason they ought to be able to lock-down my machine’s capacity to run a game offline. It’s probably illegal too, strictly speaking.
And your spiel about software and licensing is undiluted corporate drivel that wouldn’t even hold up in court, if pressed. It is semantic nonsense. I own a copy of the game. Of course I don’t own the code. But any and everyone who would tell me that I don’t own the discs in my house, and the copies on my private PC, can fuck right off. Corporate apologists can keep their Valtrex breathing mouths away from my junk, thank you nada mas.
