Hi maya. i came back to the game and i saw the new changes for skellies and other pet builds. I’m kind of conflicted between going Cabalist (Lost Souls, maybe chaos or lightning) or Ritualist (Ghol plus Guardian of Death Gates, i like a horde playstyle). Which build do you think it’s the best? Thank you in advance.
Skeletons got rather fragile recently that I recommend neither Lost Souls or Ghol sets.
Lost Souls not ideal for spammy skeleton setup where you want to minimize CD and increase spawn rate.
Ghol on the other hand is more for Blightfiends and Acid/Poison based setups. I dont like using it with skeletons although others have had some success with it.
Out of those 2 options however, I would personally prefer Lost Souls Cabalist.
I see, thanks for the info. Last thing, you think this actual Ritualist build is better of a Lost souls Cabalist in terms of performance? I’m thinking about trying it, but it will take me a while to find the Ruby of Domination, the cowl and the cord…
and the devotions order, if you please.
Imo, Ritualist is better than Cabalist for Skeletons and I prefer this setup over Lost Souls.
Yellow > Stag > Remove Yellow
Lotus > Blue > Purple > Nighttalon
Remove Purple > Shepherd’s Crook
Rat > Empty Throne > Red > Behemoth
Remove Red > Bysmiel’s Bonds > Typhos
Mogdrogen > Rattosh
Also, sorry for the late reply, was busy with holiday season
dw mate. Thanks for the reply, and good holidays and a happy new year to you. Cheers!
How do you feel about Necrolord’s Shroud vs Fiendmaster’s Raiment for this build? It lacks the +4 to Reap Spirit but has physical resistance, health, vit dmg to pets, etc.
Mostly wanted to cap pet vitality resistance, even with the spammy skeleton playstyle.
But yeah, can safely switch over to Necrolord’s if you can get the resistance from elsewhere (eg: switching over to Master of Death as exclusive skill)
Hello Maya, was going to try this build and missing the rare helmet and medal any substitutes so to make build viable ? thanks in advance.
For the helmet, the exact affixes are less important. So you can go with any Ascendant Cowl, which should not be hard to get.
For medal, any pet medal without damage conversion works.
Hi @Maya, thank you for all your guides, it’s my first character and it was a great help !
I have a question though, what skill are you binding on Giant’s Blood ? It’s not registered in the grimtools link.
Thank you again !
First of all, welcome to the forums
To answer your question, any perma passive skill would work, eg - Mogdrogen’s Pact
Hello Maya, unfortunately I can’t get to Rattosh after Mog. I’m lacking some blue reqs, and I made sure to doublecheck.
Edit: OMG I got the wrong Rattosh! I was levelling with Aether Skeletons that I thought you meant the staff of Rattosh! Sorry!
Ages have come and gone…
The Birb that once roamed the darkened, desolate wastes has not spread its wings over the crimson horizon in an eternity.
Fattened by the years of gorging upon countless unspeakable sweetened sacrifices cold enough to devour the warmth of the stars, would it even be able to reach for the firmament, much less conquer it as it had done in the past?
The beast shifts and turns in its nest of bones, sinews aching to remember what was forgotten, specters wailing from the shadows…
But… it is not yet time…
The prophecy foretells of the great calamity that shall drown the light of dawn in its shadow, heralded by the howls of the great white wolf…
But… it is not yet time…
The Birb spreads its wings.
Context - Taking a break from the game has not done any favours for my piloting skills. But build is as strong as ever apparently, just needed to remember how to press buttons and move the mouse…
No updates to the GT link necessary, so less work for me
Just curious, have you tried dropping soul harvest (20 flat vitality, 118% all damage), in favor of maxing out emboldening presence (220% all damage, 186 flat OA, 12% phys res, etc) + 1 point in rotting fumes for a flat 110 DA shred? You could still keep one point in bone harvest to proc your Bysmiel Command. Or is it simply because it’s a themed build and you aren’t allowed to add briarthorn?
Why would I make the build worse by adding a pet like briarthorn in a setup that is focused on not needing to keep pets alive?
Because with the regen, hp and other bonuses, and the fact that that single point in briathorn turns into 10, at which point the pet outlives most battles without the need to resummon. Oh wait, it’s all about Calla’s sunder again. NVM then. I rest my case.
Even without bringing Callagadra into the mix, the content I go up against do not provide the luxury of pets other than Reap Spirits outliving most battles.
The build used to be focused around Lost Souls and had overcapped Pet Physical Resistance with 7 double rare green items focused towards pet survivability.
After the various nerfs, the design philosophy was shifted to focus on being able to resummon pets as quickly as possible rather than trying in vain to keep them alive in an impossible environment.
That resulted in being able to dedicate more towards the DPS while also making the build easier to put together and pilot, resulting in better results.
Thank you. This is actually a good answer! Very Deep SR is the only area of the game I haven’t explored in depth yet. Maybe it’s time to focus on it. Back to the drawing board…
@Maya - Hi Maya, i enjoy the Fluffy, able to do SR40, will try if I can push to 44 at least. In the meantime, are you able to share your character file? Want to try Skelecton build, since Skelecton pet build is the reason I bought the game
