So 85 and thats it?

just make a mod that scales the levels up to 200 along with the monsters. nothing else changed. problem solved?

is that possible even?

Both Titan Quest and Diablo 2 I’ve had more enjoyment in making multiple characters as opposed to trying to reach the max level (which I never did). Same goes for GD.

Diablo 3 is more of an oddity in that the devs originally were against the level 99 cap that Diablo 2 had and instead went to level 60 for quicker access to “end game” (which meant bashing your head on the Inferno difficulty wall back then). Rather ironic that they then added Paragon levels, extended Paragon level max, and also increased the initial level to 70.

And yet even with all those extensions and “fixes” I didn’t play much of the game and lost any form of enjoyment from playing. The pointlessness in making multiple characters of the same class + lack of control when it came to choosing something from a skill tree / attributes made the game shallow (initial game - not counting Paragon System).

I get that there are some people who like to stick with a few characters and grind them for eternity while always having something to do or achieve - to me the other side of that coin is diverting one’s attention to multiple characters and enjoying them until another idea for a build pops in your head.

Lets just have level cap of 10,000 like Diablo 3 so the bots can run crazy all night and the power creep is just so stupid high that big numbers, yeah. Sounds awesome.

I am sure there will be a slight cap increase at certain points when an expansion is released or some kind of major patch, but I am perfectly fine with a stopping point that is attainable without running a bot or playing 24/7.

I play selffound & solo without any mods. I wouldnt care about bots, the same as I dont care about dupers or cheaters now.

If there wouldnt be any level cap at 85, it would not change anything for you, because you would be still where you are at now: perfectly fine. But for players like me, who enjoy earning more experience for some gain of the char aside euqipment, opening the level cap would help a lot. So all are happy then. Sounds awsome.

There are two options to satisfy the people who get bored when they hit 85:

  1. Raise or remove level cap while keeping the relatively high impact of gaining a new level. Make late game monsters scale with the player.

  2. Raise or remove level cap, but make high levels give very few benefits (kinda like Titty Quest and Diablo 2).

People who agree with #1 have to realise that it would make the game completely impossible to balance for PvP, it would make comparing different builds people use impossible and it would be kinda pointless in the end because scaling OA for the player and DA with the mobs (and vice versa) cancels out, same with damage and health.

People who agree with #2 need to rethink their life, because they are complaining they are not allowed to do something which has no effect what so ever.

I guess there is a compromise on #1. Make 85 the “soft” cap, then add an NPC/quest that opens up infinite levels (which are gained exponentially more slowly, like in D2) and enables monster scaling. This would allow people interested in theorcrafting or PvP to have a sensible limit, while giving the grinders a sense of progression. There could even be a toggle option between those modes. That may be too hard to code, but the eve could make a whole different game mode (like HC) where there is no level cap and monsters scale. Even better, tie it to HC so people can compete in who makes it to the highest level.

People addicted to play games like this probably in general would have to rethink their life according to your argumentation.

PVP cant be balanced in ARPG anyway, so forget about this point.

Diablo 2 PvP was really balanced.

Also, I don’t know why people get to END GAME then complain when they suddenly realize that they’ve reached the END OF THE GAME. Sure, you can keep farming and continuing with quests, but it’s called end game for a reason. You can decide to keep playing, make a new character, uninstall the game, or do whatever you want. You could even come to the forums and whine that the developers didn’t make their game the way you want, but really, what good is that doing for you?

I feel like we play different Grim Dawns.
I’ve got lots of legendaries via crafting (8xheart/blood/brain). Also lots for quest rewards, boss firstkills, shrine clearing, etc (i mean, something you cant farm).
When i kill a huge pack and it drops only 1-2 items, and then i kill a hero and he drops 7-10 items, i wonder, if i should’ve bothered with that pack at all? Also, i get most of my epics from bosses/heroes, and epics have a decent chance to provide heart/brain/blood.

Yes, for MI and some components (ectoplasm, etc), trash may be worth farming sometimes. But for legendaries, you better just farm bosses/heroes/troves (btw, latter is the most retarded), dont forget that every heart/blood/brain dropped is 1/8 legendary.

It wasnt, but it’s hardly an issue for ARPG. If you want really balanced PVP, you play PVP-dedicated games.

Troves drop rare crafting materials… I don’t know why you’re calling them “retarded”.

Yes.

So you think emphasizing END GAME makes your post real smart? I probably spend 2x the time farming with lvl85 chars, then with leveling and quests so far. So where exactly is this END GAME?
Why do you get to complain about people, who try to make suggestions to make farming more enjoyable? Especially since the suggestions would be easy to implement reusing the existing game content?

you reached it at around 40% of your play time

Why do you get to complain about people, who try to make suggestions to make farming more enjoyable? Especially since the suggestions would be easy to implement reusing the existing game content?

they are not that easy or have downsides. As with any suggestion there are pros and cons, no need to suppress either just because it does not agree with your agenda.

I would not want additional levels, plus they do not really entice anyway since it takes so long to get them, so if that minimal bonus is enough to keep you going, not having it makes no difference either, you pretty much have proven this

At most I could see something that is not a level but not entirely useless like Paragon levels or buying stuff for excess XP (I actually like the latter better in a way you already do that when farming anyway  )

I imagine that this statement and the people who say it are in general the bane of all game devs existence. People who don’t know what they are talking about are most likely to be the ones to say such things.

You’re not the center of the universe - get over yourself. Just because you think it would be more enjoyable doesn’t mean everyone will love your ideas.

Since I didnt open this thread, there might be at least another player, who considers hitting lvl85 demotivating, the way it is now.

However, online-discussions in general and online-game-discussions specificly tend to drift in religious believes. No rational argument will ever change those believes.

I cant see, how opening the levels with small benefit proceeding would harm anyone, but because other player believe, it would make no difference for me, they decide opening levels is a bad idea for everyone.

Oh well. I will just play a different game, as soon as I am bored enough from Grim Dawns Late Game. There are so many and Grim Dawn was worth the money allready, but it is definitely not worth my time arguing with closed minded believers.

You are posting on a Grim Dawn forum, what would you expect to happen? Too many people here have only one viewpoint and that this game is an 8+ with very many awesome things to play as and do in this game. After playing games for many years and seeing this game go through some changes that have made zero sense, I am of the mindset that this game has taken many steps backwards with few steps forward for a while. I have two Steam accounts with Grim Dawn and on one of them I gave it a bad review that was quick and to a point. My thorough review that I am working on will be more in depth and give the game no more than a 6/10. I will not debate my opinion as it is mine and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The level cap of 85 is an odd number. It should have been 90 so bosses can be level 100 along with extra skill and attribute points. I see this as one of the flaws with this game. With the variety of legendaries in the game and so many of them useless to so many peiple, legendaries need to drop more or weighted towards the build you are working on. I don’t mean there needs to be an 85% weight towards your build (like Diablo 3’s smart loot), but it could be something more than totally random and useless to you where you have to trade people how it is now. People rag on D3 about this but it is very nice and beneficial.

I could go on but will not.

What I don’t understand… is why everyone thinks crate is done with the game? They are working on new content… working on an expansion… working on survivor mode… and to top it all off, released the mod tools for the community to make all sorts of things.

How is there not enough for the game? Right now, it is at a stand still, because those modders are working on huge projects, smaller mods have surfaced already with masteries, difficulty changes, (no small feat either) and when there will be someone who creates something magnificent, it is just one more thing to add to this beautiful game.

Nobody has anymore patience anymore. I need more more more, now now now.

Patience is a virtue, guys… it will come.

Don’t get your panties in a twist over waiting for more content.

ahh the good old debate of ARPG’s… end game what is it and what it should be.

The #1 answer - farming
The #1 reply to farming - make it like MMO’s

Leave it to gamers to bitch when they get the best entertainment per dollar value compared to any activity in the world. I love forums always better than soap’s if you ask me

God bless millennials, forums would be so boring without them.

Haha. I wondered what happened if they were to play either FF3 or FF2. …

 Solstice probably would have ended their gaming careers pretty quickly.
