So when we would get legendary drop sound?

In case mobs die off screen from procs, im sure I dont need to explain lots of you kill mobs and might miss nice loot. Especially with spin2win you never stop and wait.

GD is a game with conquences, part of that is look around to find things, if you want to blast through mobs quickly and not bother to go back and check for loot, then that’s your loss I’m afraid.

I suppose someone could make a mod that adds a sound for legendary drops. If I had time to figure out the mod tools I would do it.

The GrimInternals mod does a sound when a Legendary drops as well as putting a purple beam up in the sky from the item so you can’t miss it. Check it out here: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53629

Thanks!! Its amazing!

Eventhough Grim Internals makes up for this basic need I would still really love to have this feature implemented in Game. Simply because there is so much more potential with this feature.

Drop Sounds could be chosen in the Loot Filter Window. There could be checkboxes for each Item-Tier you want to hear/see drop sounds/visual notifications for. For example you could check green double rares/ epic or legendary items. Depending on how you play your character/build you can simply toggle them on or off to your needs.

Are you kidding? Most Legendaries arent THAT valueable to earn “drop sound”. Players farming Crucible or SR literally bathe in them.
Maybe, add “drop sound” to double-rare item - that would make sense, at least.

Also, in GD you’re supposed to pick up all loot you see anyways. If you feel picking up yellow items takes too much time - show green items only, but still pick up them all. This is not PoE, you arent meant to leave loot lying around.

I have to disagree on that. Components have a “drop sound” and might also not be considered “valuable” enough to have one. I really think this varies a lot on how the game is actually played. For some they might not, for some they might. Since the main focus is actually on the progression towards lv. 100 and not primarly the endgame content, it would definately make sense to add these notification sounds/effects even for epics/ legandaries. On my journeys towards max level I always felt excited about the legendary or epic drops and this would just add the extra spice to make them drops stand out more.

I totally understand somebody playing specific endgame content, where you definately get a few of them when handing in high crucible waves or high shattered realm levels, might not find them as valuable as others. But even here I think drop sounds would in an additional way help to show the value of your gained loot. But making it a toggle option in the loot filter window would alow everybody to play the way they like.

I think there is a good reason that there is no auto-loot for items and that the lootfilter got expanded to actually leave loot laying around.

Depending on the way this drop effects/sounds are implemented this also improves loot readablity greatly, especially for new players. For example mythical variants/double rares could have additional particle effects on the items laying on the ground displaying that they are special/ rare. This will directly communicate, especially to new players, that this item is worth taking a closer look into.

I usally check interesting items directly after them beeing droped. Even before I collect them. And so I often catch myself just selling my collected bunch of items blind before even double checking the stats again when my inventory is full.

+5, this idea is cool as hell

Pointless hand-holding. -1

iirc zantai or some other crate dev said that they contract another studio to do the audios in gd. and skewsound makes the musics in gd.

imagine crate asking the audio studio to do only a few new sound effects for upcoming patch:

crate: we have another job for you to create a new audio file!

audio studio: great!!! what will it be? sfx for new skills? new monsters?

crate: no. just a single sfx for legendary items drop sound.

audio studio:…

As far as I know Skewsound does everything since they’re a full audio company.

" SkewSound is a full-service audio studio dedicated to creating custom sound and music for games, VR experiences, and both linear and interactive media."

…or, like in Path of Exile, there could be an option, when you can put your own audio sample for drops.

Unlikely.

Crate is very much against using external configuration files to adjust gameplay. When I suggested such a thing for the lootfilter rework, I was met with a pretty disdainful reply, something along the lines of “people shouldn’t have to do things out of game to enjoy the game.”

I can see the point, but I feel that they neglect the community aspect that’s created by sharing such content with one another.
