Solo Classes - Let Us Choose the Same Mastery Twice

How is this for an idea? Solo classes have long needed some love, why not let us choose the same class twice? :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean it would need some play testing and maybe the second class would need to be nerfed to something like 75% of the bonus of the first if it turns out to be really strong.

Why force everyone into dual class when Solo class could exist be choosing the mastery twice.

They should make no mastery viable. I don’t want to be some stupid Soldier or Necromancer, i wanna be a vagabond.

as an idea it is awful. Solo masteries need no love whatsoever, they are not meant to be used as a build by themselves.

Apart from that you can easily fix your ā€˜problem’ by selecting a second mastery and investing in its bar only. The only difference is that your class name no longer is Soldier, which is irrelevant.

because it is extra work, see your own post, and offers nothing useful whatsoever in return

Wow, an original idea!

Yes, because I want to learn Blitz and Forcewave twice!

says you , i greatly disagree.

I ran a solo Soldier for about a year which you can find over here;

https://www.nexusmods.com/grimdawn/mods/49/?

I also did a 6 month Blank NO Class run made it to Level 37 which you can find here;

So as far as no class and solo class goes i do have some amount of experience with them and i can tell you they cannot compete in the slightest with a dual class.

I think it would beehove Crate to listen to some other player who have played their game and can provide experience and ideas to them as well.

By the way mamba i have traded with you in the past, back in the days when we would exchange mules, don’t you think your acting to dismissive to an idea which could have merit?

Like i said already i completely disagree with what you have to say about solo classes. :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope the devs listen to other contributors as well.

thanks man!

On a serious note, the devs will never do this. This game’s main mechanic is the ability to combine two masteries to make a class. Making so one mastery is somehow viable goes completely against that.

He was being sarcastic. This has been suggested for literally years.

I figured, otherwise you would not have started this thread

I could have told you that without any experience with them… your fallacy is that you somehow believe that they should when they clearly are not intended to

they will listen if they feel it is a good idea, it’s not like I make decisions for Crate.

This is not the first time it was proposed, but it has not happened yet, I’d say it won’t happen because it is a bad idea and Crate agrees this

By the way mamba i have traded with you in the past, back in the days when we would exchange mules, don’t you think your acting to dismissive to an idea which could have merit?

not sure what having traded would have to do with it, but no, we did not trade, I never traded mules…

If I thought the idea had any merit, I would not have been dismissive. I assumed my post made it clear that I see no merit in it

I hope the devs listen to other contributors as well.

they listen to everyone equally. As to this meaning they actually listen to this idea, I’d say the answer to that is ā€˜no’

really??? thanks for letting me know this was COMPLETELY lost on me

Don’t you get sassy with me now.

and you know this how? granted i have no where the amount of hours you have on these forums, i just play the game a lot and post and read when i can, excluding burnt out phases which happens quite a bit for me with Grim Dawn. I have yet to find where Crate stated they don’t like the idea of allowing two of the same classes to be chosen, but that could simply be from my lack to locate it successfully on these forums.

You may feel a solo class is sufficient in power, i do not.

This is just one option i would like Crate to look into.

In any case i think our stances are clear.

hehe i have a good memory we did indeed trade, look at my visitor page you were nice enough to visit and posted on back in 2013

so there! :stuck_out_tongue:

if they were intended to, they would be…

as I just said, it is not intended to be

Let me just delete the evidence

I stand corrected, have not traded anything in years for sure, apparently I did in the very earliest of early access

No need to be rude guys. The simple truth is that for the foreseeable future there is no plans to make this happen. Sorry Ward.

there’s nothing stopping you from using a single class. I have beaten the game on ultimate with every class solo except Shaman and Necromancer. I don’t like the skills in those 2 classes is the only reason why, not because it can’t be done.
Yes dual class is easier to gear because of stats but that’s because that’s the way the game was intended.
Hell there was a guy who beat Ultimate without choosing a class at all.

They are not meant to compete, the game is built around dual masteries, end of story. Solo masteries are do-able, and are a way of challenging yourself. I mean honestly I don’t know why you think a blank or half-built class should be able to compete. Again, it’s a way to challenge yourself.

The devs are well aware of this ā€œdilemmaā€ as my sarcastic post suggested, it has been mentioned dozens and dozens of times. At this point it’s pretty much understood that it will never be done officially. It’s not worth the time or effort for the devs.

If you want it so bad, mod it in. There’s many many guides to help you. Put the work in, play the game how you want, you’ll not see any progress with this thread otherwise.

Of course name matters. I know some who don’t play Diablo III just because the Sorceress is called Wizzard and the Paladin is called Crusader

Just because you are one of the die-hard 2% fans does not mean that names of things is irrelevant.

And that doesn’t mean it’s not the dumbest reason not to play a class.

Would anyone play Arcanist + Soldier if the class combo was called ā€œUnicorn masterā€? No I would not think so
