First of all thank you good people of Crate for making this game, it’s truly entertaining and addicting, and has real depth in char building.
I’ve spent 163 hours on the game so far and have got one char past ultimate and two other chars in elite. Despite how great the game is as it is now, there are some features that I think would help with the gaming experience a lot.
Hence my two cents:
A double talent system, e.g. giving the player the ability to store an extra setting of skill/attribute/constellation choices and switch between them. This could be very helpful with the current build variety for example with my Commando I could do both a ranged build and a sword/shield defensive build without having to train a new character to lv 85. Of course the switching should only be done out of combat.
A death recap system, e.g. telling the player the nature of the damage that killed him/her, as well as amount/source of the damage etc. This would really benefit new players and enable them to adjust their builds accordingly and relieve the frustration of repeatedly dying to the same cause.
A better way to manage components, maybe a dedicated container or sth. The sorting function currently is a bit lacking to be honest, as it sorts the bag separately.
More transferable chest space
Now, I know the ideas above come from WoW and LoL but I think they really apply to Grim Dawn too. And if they’re already being considered in future development please kindly let me know, thank you very much.
Honestly a combat log would be a huge benefit and I’m a little surprised no one has made a mod for it yet. As for components, I have a shared stash tab filled entirely with components and I’d love a way to auto-sort those by name/slot/completion.
#1 would require changing how respec works. I believe that respeccing should be free. 25 iron bits or free is essentially the same. In later game 500 bits at 500000 stashed is also essentially free. 1 aether crystal with 100 stashed is free. Make it possible to unlearn mastery points.
Once respeccing is free, it makes sense to store some combinations and reload them at single click. Put this option on the Spirit Guide, where you normally unlearn skills, makes sense to have it there. I wouldn’t limit to 2, make them unlimited. This gives a whole new twist to the game, as now suddenly you are only locked to your mastery selection, not the rest (attributes + mastery points).
#2. Yes, this is useful, especially with squishy caster builds. On ultimate without 80% resists it helps to know which resist to work on. I died several times to Warden Krieg, thinking he does poison (green arrows). After reading forums the duration damage turned out to be bleed actually.
#3. For shared stash, how about a full screen scrollable container with a search box and/or filters ? And theoretically unlimited space, you just buy more with iron bits. For the rest, I think it works well as it is.
