Firts I have to say the information one can get out of the Forum/Wiki is great.
Reading the forums (especially all the nice guides) and the wiki solved already a lot of questions and provided usefull further info, but some still exist… maybe I didn’t looked hard enough. ^^
Buyable crafting recipes: Can they only be purchased at the faction merchants, or is there also dropchance?
1.1 If they drop, is there a loot table for all recipes, so it would be better to buy them asap to get them off the table to increase the chance of getting non buyable recipes?
I recently finished vanilla on vet with my first char and I’m wondering, if it would be wise to level the reputation for some/all factions before proceeding?
So far I’m honored (and bought the rep gain incrase) with Devil’s Crossing, Homestead, Order of Death’s Vigil and Rovers, respected with the Black Legion and friendly with the Outcast.
Dismantling: I already read a thread about it (www_grimdawn_com/forums/showthread.php?t=61394&highlight=dismantle) and so far my gut seemed to be right to only dismantle a few blue doubles, but is it already worth with low level blues, or should I wait for higher level ones?
Attribute points: Looking at some guides Physique looks like the main attribute to achieve survivability. So far i leveled to ~ Lvl 52 without spending any :p, but then I was facing the Sentinel and spent 20 in physique, overhauled my equipment and spent some of my 60+ spare skillpoints. ^^
So any advice would be nice here… really don’t want to mess up my attributes.
Getting through the main story without spendig attribute or skillpoints on your first char is impressive, gz, man. If you enoy GD i highly recommend the expansion, the content is way more challenging, but also very fun and rewarding^^. (Ok, fanyboy mode /off.)
On your questions:
I honestly have no clue. Although i like to restart fresh from time to time, i usually buy all the blueprints for components asap. Either i need them anyways, or i need them to craft something i need^^. Iron is no issue in GD, you can easily collect 500k or more in a day worth of playtime on Ultimate, so after you have upgraded your stash (that’s priority no1 imo), i would recommend to buy the blueprints.
I am too lazy myself to farm the reputation early on, but actually it would be very helpful. Especially the resist augments are very much needed on higher difficulties and some factiongearpieces are quite ok.
I would dismantle only highlvl stuff (duplicates). It’s by no means necessary though. And beware: Atm dismantling mythical gear doesn’t net rare components. (I’m sure this will get fixed.)
Attribute points: Typically physique is the way to go. Put just as much into cunning/spirit as you need for gear, everything else into phys. (Full cunning builds exist, but i wouldn’t advise a new player to do that. You sacrifice a lot of DA (defensive abilty) and hp. The reason, that physique is regarded as the best stat, are the diminishing returns for %increased damage. You can easily get 1k and more % inc damage from your gear, it’s literally everywhere in the lategame, hence getting more of it from your attribute points isn’t doing much. The OA (offensive ability) from cunning is valuable though. But since it’s hard enough to get sufficient DA and hp for the lategame, you’r typically better off to get as much physique as possible and grab OA on your gear.
So for now I’ll just buy any recipes I need and all the others when I reached a higher discount/reputation rank. Since I’m not in a hurry I decided to take my time with the first char, so i can farm a little here and there (rep and what else i feel like^^)
I used skill points, but only a few. Until Lvl 20 some mastery points and 2 points in stun jacks (kiting with a gun). Then I probably looked at the right beginner guides for an easy build and didn’t needed much until the sentinel started to kill me by just “looking at me”.
I’m a proud owner of AoM now and will start looking into it on the weekend
Another Question…
I can’t find anything to transfer items from the inventory to the stash fast… there has to be something simple like ctrl richtlick i totally overlook.
Don’t worry, if the Xpac feels rough on your first run. It’s a bit overtuned atm, but a balance patch is already on the way and will go live, once the testing is finished. (Might take another week or so, but probably not much longer.)
Hello and welcome to our community
As others have answered your questions I only have a few things to add:
Crafting recipe from faction vendor will not drop from anywhere so you don’t need to worry about that.
You can get your faction relation to revered much faster by doing bounty quest on Elite and Ultimate difficulties.
Shrines are the most important in early game, get them all in normal/vet will help you a lot later. There are total 33 shrines in normal/vet, you can easily look for their location in the wiki page.
