I thought I’d write a bit about levelling a sorcerer. You may not want to level a sorcerer as your first character, though it’s not too bad as a 2nd or 3rd character.
Starting off, the fast approach is to grab 2-4 levels in normal, then switch to crucible and run crucible 1-10 repeatedly to unlock 10 devotion points. This gives you a big leg up on the devotion points, and lets you equip some basic gear you may have collected with previous characters.
In terms of priorities, you’ll be aiming for 25 points in both Arcanist and Demolitionist masteries, and early on, you’ll want to be pumping all the points you can into Olexra’s Flash Freeze, Trozan’s Sky Shard, and Fire Strike. OFF is the pack-clearer, TSS is the hero/boss killer, and Fire Strike is the filler skill.
At level 26, you’ll be able to equip Marauder’s gear. Assuming this isn’t your first character, you’ll likely have a Marauder’s Ammo Belt, allowing you to equip two pistols. One Marauder’s pistol and Aldur’s Inquisition make an excellent combination. Focus on +cold % in your gear, grab fire-touched from the Demolition tree when you can, and pump your 3 main attacks towards maximum, and 25/25 in masteries as you’re able. This will likely carry you to level 40-45 or so- very rapidly. You can expect to be clearing content very very quickly. For attribute points, I recommend 1:1 physique/spirit through here, in order to pump up your energy pool and regen for where we’re headed. If you need a bit of cunning to equip good guns, see if you can manage to eek them out from gear, though spending a few attribute points on cunning won’t kill you.
Once you get to elite… things slow down quite a bit. Expect to start to have to kite hero mobs, and use TSS/Fire Strike to finish off mobs that OFF failed to kill. The “early” build will be running out of steam, but you can still milk a few more levels out of it. I’d recommend transitioning to a different approach somewhere around level 50. Use the respec vendor, pull out all the skill points spent on the demolition side (aside from mastery). Punch arcanist mastery up to 50, and fire up Albrecht’s Aether Ray to replace Fire Strike. You’ll want to aim for 60+ energy regen, and pump up your Aether Damage. At this point, for damage stats, you’ll be looking for All Damage % > Aether Damage > Elemental Damage. Cooldown Reduction and Energy Cost reduction are high priorities as well.
Here’s what my build looks like at level 60, so you’ve got an idea what you’re shooting for: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2mMRMG2
Long term, I’m aiming for this: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63426 - and I’m following his plan for devotions.
