Spellbinder Pet Build viability

First off, hello everyone. I’m completely new to the game, just beaten it, I’m a level 48 Spellbinder with all my points invested in Raise Skeletons, gear that makes my points +1 and give me vitality damage and equally devotions all vitality. I have nothing invested in Arcanist class.

I’d like, at some point, to have aether damage and vitality damage or something to have Raise Skeletons with some Arcanist main damage skill. I thought this out initially as I created the character.

I like games that give freedom to explore and to “carve your own path”. I don’t want to beat the end game stuff yet just trying to understand the game and create my own build.

Warden Krieg has a weapon for you.

Generally, you want as many items with a skill bonus as possible. Especially one with a special skill bonus.

Thanks. I’ll let you know when I get there. I’m still exploring the early areas and farming Aether Clusters so I can enter this Conflagration place and complete my quest. I have 21 unspent points in mastery and 3 unspent points in devotion and 800k iron and farming aether crystals in case I need to respec.

Krieg is the boss of act 1. You should have fought him at this point. He’s in a cellar in Burrwitch. You typically reach him around level 20-25.

I see the weapon is level 14. Isn’t that underpowered? Look what I’ve got atm

weapon exists in multiple level iterations Search - Grim Dawn Item Database, for it to be level 14 you somehow got the lowest one (so you fought krieg at low level)/got unlucky with drop, as certain levels he has 50/50% chance to drop lower vs level relevant version Notable loot - Warden Krieg - Grim Dawn Monster Database (at Krieg lvl 32 he drops the lvl 30 100%, but at 31 and under it’s 50% for lvl 30 vs lvl 14 vers)
but keep in mind it’s not the level that makes it useful/dictates all its power, it’s the modifiers, and those are unrelated to level
*and if you’re a pet build you probably also want pet stats, which your current mace doesn’t have anyway

Ah thanks dude I didn’t know that. I just thought it worked differently because apparently at nromal difficulty trying to farm items below your level doesn’t work lol they won’t drop, but I’m playing right now i’ll farm this guy see if the mace drops.

enemies wont drop rare mats(hearts/brains/blood/crystals) if they’re below 12 levels of char
but MIs are fixed loot drops, so enemies always spawn with those if % chance applicable, and then merely related direct to enemy level (individual enemy loot table then changes based on their level hence the lvl 14 mace staying until 31 but disappearing at Krieg lvl 32 - regardless if your char is 32 or 100)

Yeah I don’t see any skill bonus on this one.

Build making in Grim Dawn is about stacking as many special skill bonuses as possible. Warden’s Judgement is the first one available for your build.

yay. do you guys have any more suggestions for equipments for me? or devotions? or anything really i just want my pets. I levelled using Panetti’s Replicating Missile and that worked but I saw Albrecht’s Aether Ray and liked that but also there’s stuff at the end of the tree so I don’t know what to do with Arcanist mastery. The pets will eventually not be able to deal with everything. I’m 50 now stacking 21 points lol until I figure out what the fuck to do.

I think I’ll off-hand aether damage, main hand vitality.

Grim Dawn Item Database *filtered to lvl 94 to not flood duplicates, as with Warden they exist in multiple level iterations

*edit, note the difference between regular +summon and summon limit
summon limit = more total pets out,
+summon is just more raised per cast (ie needing to cast twice instead of 3x to reach 8 limit vs actually going from 8 skeletons to 10 fighting)

If taking points off Master of Death (makes pets insane) into Reap Spirit then Guess I’m not using Aether Ray shrugs

it doesn’t boost the pet dmg of reap spirit only the player portion btw
*reap spirit is a 2 part spell/skill

No, I mean I got my points in Master of Death which makes pets wild. So apparently these final skills cannot co-exist so I meant like I won’t take points off of master of death. Just learned how to use grim tools! This is me basically Spellbinder, Level 50 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

yes they can
reap spirit doesn’t exclude master of death, only exclusive buffs do (eg master of death/harbinger of souls)
my point is more, if you’re a pet build, it’s perhaps not necessarily as useful as it might seem to use Pulsing Shard, since all the bonuses wont actually confer to the main/pet portion of your build (reap spirit being a 2 part skill and this offhand solely affect the player portion of RS)

I understand your point. I’ll look for another off-hand basically.
