SPOILER ALERT: Lore Discussion

That is the question…

Maybe it’s because bottles are equipped somewhat sideways by npcs? (Or it’s me not knowing what to mod to make it look right :D)

That’s fantastic. The “ashen wastes” are worlds that were destroyed by the Cthonic beings. Also, what do they mean by “worlds”? Like… different dimensions? And where did you find this dialogue?

It’s in the localization files, the next content update will add it to the game

About Korvaak

Mostly when i’m killing stuff i barely notice what it is reason being either it dies to quickly or it hit likes truck

But recently facing the Chosen i noticed their damage types - Fire and Lightning and enhanced physical capabilities (Maidens)

I’m now leaning towards Ultos/Ulzuin being Korvaak. As for Empyrion, i’m more or less convinced he’s dead

Primordial beings can’t be “killed”. At best they can become so weak they get obscured in irrelevancy.

Actually the wastes are part of Cairn and the Erulan empire. You can see some banners of the Black Legion, and if you have completely done the Dalia quest, than you know that it consumed the home of Dalia and Dravis.

I wonder if the new content update with the Aetherial dungeon is part of where Urobuuk went, or perhaps the Tempel of the witchgods.

The time difference between Mogdrogen and Urobuuk with Arkovia, is just some decades (think around 50 years or so). And it is at least 600 years before the Grim Dawn took place i believe.

Probably far fetched but Bane of-the Winter King Mogdrogen anyone

Nah, i thought so too. Mainly cause “wolf” was mentioned, according to Mog’s constellation it’s his favored form

Right, forgot about that part.

From the note Missive to Wightmire Bloodbound
The time has come to strike at our Aetherial nemesis in Wightmire. Even now, we gather our forces in the hills above Burrwitch for an assault on the Village. However, before that can happen, we must first secure Wightmire so that there are no enemies at our back

Though strong, loyal and ready to die in the name of Ch’thon, I believe you have insufficient Bloodbound to overcome the Aetherials’ presence. We have had great success recently in bringing forth more powerful servants of Ch’thon from the Void. A single Harbinger could wipe out all of the Aetherians in Wightmire and even take on Devil’s Crossing, which could serve as a stronghold for our order in this region.

To bring forth a Harbinger, you will need the blood and lives of at least three men. Gather the sacrifices however you see fit; either from refugees on the road, rover camps or chosen amongst your own Bloodbound. Inform me of your success when it is complete.

Ulto Treig, Grand Priest
I suppose that this could be the area or near the area seen in the Grim Misadventure #100: On the Horizon. Also the fact that there is lots of Aetherial activity and less or non Chtonic. I think this is due Uroboruuk having fought the Chtonic and crippled their forces.

In my previous post i implied that there could been a connection to Mogdrogen and the Bane of-the Winter King. Mogdrogen is a shape-shifter and since he is a ascendant. So he would be mortal once and if he came from Cairn how would he end up in the war of the gods.

Personally very hyped for 1.0.0.6 more than The Crucible, but then again I’ve always been more of a lore fanatic.

I honestly just want to know where the city is. There are a lot of places where you have broken bridges and stuff where it is very much possible where the city could be.

According to Trevor’s Note, I think that the capital is the north of Darkvale and is probably near Necropolis. Since Necropolis is what is placed near the city.

The chthonic wastes also seem to include parts of the main/real world that have been sucked into the void, e.g. Dravis and Daila’s childhood home.

What about the city on the map north of Burrwitch? There seems to be a city there, but it is not known what that city is.

There is also the tunnel that was built by Necropolis Builder’s daughter.

It would seem sort of weird if 2 rogue like dungeons were situated right next to each other. However considering that refugees from the city’s capital were flooding through Darkvale, it doesn’t seem far fetched.

Aha, I had overlooked that. To be sure, that seems to be a big city. In addition, I forgot that the Necropolice was constructed for a special purpose. Assuming that’s the case, Necropolis must be distant from the capital rather.

It’s possible very much that there was a capital. And probably, there were many refugees who crossed the lake in order to separate far from there.

I am not sure if one should add the ultimate-only Dalia quest to the legit lore of the world. While it starts with a serious tone it degrades into comedy when we get to the end, in other words, first you get invested in solving the mystery and then go lolwat at the end. Seems as a deliberate set up. Not to mention you need to find the one item that trigger’s the quest into motion.
Besides, everything that is meant to build the world should be accessible in all 3 difficulty settings.
I have a feeling that it was added more for funzies and as a wink towards people who were playing the game from the very first builds with the army of clones, then to “enrich” the story. And by that logic, wouldn’t it mean that Overlord area in TQ:IT is a legit area too?

When was that new dialogue in the first Witch meeting at the Blood Grove added?

Actually, the Dravis’ storyline can be considered a legit part. That secret area in Necropolis is accessible on normal as well. Only difference is there’s no portal to Sanctum of Immortal. I think it fits the main story mainly because it explains how Uro is what he is.

Look at it this way, maybe the serious part is for those who explore 100% (i mean who except for the Kymon peasants would want to enter Tomb of Korvaak, unless you killed the Witch that is- you then get a BL quest there) and have prevailed against all odds on Ultimate. So, the serious part is for those who not only venture into Ultimate but also progress in it quite a bit.

The fun part is for those who have been here since the early days, complaining about how John Bourbon blocking their way is frustrating. I’m pretty sure many would’ve wanted to kill him back then :p. Guess they got what they wished for. Although the fun part can be enjoyed by anyone tbh. That music at the end is really awesome

What new dialogue?
