I don’t think they’re trying to take revenge on the human world. Unlike the Bible we had nothing to do with their banishment.
We’re only causalities in a long war between the two factions, one of the many worlds that have been ravaged by this conflict.
The Chthonians have been inspired by Lovecraftian works. Same for the Three Witch Gods (especially dreeg)
Good find. I wonder how i missed that one, since i do look at old misadventures.
Not suprised that Ulgrim is stronger/better than Fabius.
Makes me wonder if Ulgrim ever crossed path with Uroboruuk? Because they both have dealt with otherworldly threads.
Don’t think Uroboruuk is too fond of loosing his immortality. Judging by the Dahlia Questline, it seems he can die. It’d just take a little extra time.
Jokes aside
I don’t think they have in all honesty. Why would Ulgrim contact Creed if he had crossed paths with Uro. Uro certainly seems more capable and knowledgeable when compared with Creed
And why would he ask us to decide b/w the Chosen and the Order. If he had met Uro he would’ve allied with the Order
Was thinking about that : You (your character) is literally the most powerful (100%) human being that ever existed.
You cleaned a whole village and it’s underground from a threat that nobody knew how to stop, you crossed Arkovia leaving only bones and feathers in your path, defied and eradicated the most dangerous gang (and its leader) in the country, become the slayer of an army of giant infernal termites, brutally lowered the general demographics of all hostile factions and endogenous tribes on the western half of the region, spanked the avatar of an arrogant god and returned back to sleep the emanation of another, even more powerful, one. You killed a staggering number of beasts, men, ghosts (!) and demonic creatures. Alone. You even found cloth stocks when you were asked. I think everyone would like to have you at their side. For Aetherials, you are like a power armor, created by the gods. For Chtonians, you could become the armed wing of Ch’thon. Instead of wanting to kill you at all costs, they should try to enlist you.
I hope that crucial choices will emerge in the next act of the game.
Even if to reduce to the state of organic puddles everything that crosses my path, just because I can, suits me perfectly too.
But yeah … He has a mustache.
I have been trying to understand the difference between all these beings in Grim Dawn but to no avail. So I will just post my questions and idea here:
Primordials - These appear to be nature’s creation of super power beings? So far we know Korvaak is one of them. Mogdrogen as well? Not so sure about that one. If we consider the constellation assigned points, Empyrion is also considered a Primordial. That kinda make me question why our char is so spooked that Kymon sides with another Primordial and not Empyrion. Aetherials were also probably servants of these Gods in the past.
Ascendants - powerful mortals who “ascend” into Godhood? I think there is a conversation with Mogdrogen whether he was mortal once to which he implied that he was. But in the constellation, it stated that he was created during the war of the Gods… so may be he ascended sometime later.
Eldritch Gods - the 3 Witch Gods; Dreeg, Solael and Bysmiel. Not sure where they fit or if they ever belong to the same group of other Gods.
C’thon - Father of all Gods (Primordials and Eldritch?), as described in the Dying God constellation. Betrayed and thrown into the void. His blood was used to create all the mortals so now he wants it all back.
Looking into the description of all the constellations appear to suggest that some can be considered both Ascendants and Primordials (according to the points assigned to them) or may be this is just a game mechanic and I am reading into it too deeply (having Crab and Boar ascending into Godhood would be pretty funny lol).
Mogdrogen is an Ascendant, he’s a being created during the War of the Gods and then eventually ascended to the status of his creators
-Kymon is sided with Korvaak, a Primordial we know little about and has been lying to the world that he is the devout servant of Empyrion. Even Kymon himself knows Korvaak is bad news, still a better option than Chthon
-I too am having trouble understanding the Eldritch Realm and its connection with the rest.
Dreeg’s lore suggests the Gods punished him for peering into the veil. Which Gods? Do Primordials have some sort of connection with the Eldritch realm?
-Chthon, in my opinion is the only logical being in the story. All he is trying to do is take back what’s rightfully his. Our character is just plain evil
-Also, the fact that Anasteria keeps saying “masters” and the fact that SoTH does Aether damage. Empyrion could be the master of Aetherials.
Which would mean Korvaak is just some random Primordial. Probably the one who reached out into the void for more power or better yet, probably the one who instigated the War of the Gods
Well I am a new user first post! and honestly the kymon chosen quest line got me to fully invest into the lore and the gods.
Another interesting note is that the faction also has chaos and aether items as well. It’s a small amount but I think it’s kinda telling in context of this discussion.
I do feel if you haven’t done the questline people should give it a go I found it quite interesting myself.
Yup I am aware of their item stats. And I have also finished every single quest there can be in the game (at the moment anyway), except for killing Mogdrogen on ultimate (not really a quest but a challenging content)… that guy is mad
What I want to know is what exactly happened to you (the player) while you were possessed in the beginning…
I kinda want that to happen again, but you’re in control of your own actions, this time around
Possible effects might include: slower walking speed
occasional bursts of speed and movement/attack speed
everything will get buffed quite a bit
attack damage could increase a lot.
Of course, most of your items will be gone, and (if it could even work) you would have to run around whatever area you found yourself in, getting it back from higher up bad guys/finding it stashed away in places…
After you finish the Port Valbury quest line with Anasteria, there’s a dialogue with her with the player asking her if she knows the Aetherial who possessed him/her. Too bad she didn’t know but confirmed with us that the Aetherial is definitely alive and wandering the world somewhere. The player has a dialogue saying that he/her will definitely track it down.
So yeah it is a possibility. And may be some more explanation about the player origin and how he/she managed to retain some of the Aetherial power in the blood.
I don’t know about Korvaak because I never sided with Kymon’s (seriously) but I think that Kymon actually is in contact with Ch’ton and not Empyrion. I don’t know how he concluded that the forgotten god which he contacted by doing the ritual at the village is Empyrion if is a well known fact that the Forgotten God is Ch’ton. Also, at the Shrine of the Forgotten God, scribe Osteram talks about a long forgotten language, which could be the same Kymon studied at the village where he contacted the Forgotten God. Scribe Osteram also doesn’t believe the shrine to be in honor of Empyrion (although I’m not sure why he mentions Empyrion specifically).
If you do all of Kymon’s quest, it would be revealed that Korvaak was a primordial god who is seeking to reassemble all his body parts in preparation of a fight against Chthon. Unless, of course, Korvaak’s messenger has been lying.
You should try siding with Kymon once, for the sake of completion. I also hate that faction. Only got 1 char who sided with them til the end. On others I swap after veteran level. They remind me too much of religious fanaticism.
