A She? Sorceress? That’s a nice touch, Crate, really enjoyed reading all the lore. But I bet in all translated languages Ulzuin’s set is translated like “his” set (I know for sure in Russian it is). Might wanna tell translators to fix it now.
But really though, really cool lore stuff, really enjoyed reading those notes (spent so much time on doing that instead of playing the game, lol).
EDIT: misread the lore, Ulzuin is a HE. Korvaak was talking about a witch that bewitched Ulzuin.
Ulzuin is a he. He was the guardian of the Eldritch Realm when Korvaak ruled it and he was seduced by Bysmiel to basically distract him. I believe he’s also the son of Empyrion.
Yep, Ulzuin was staying at Korvaak’s house and one day he was introduced to a very hot Bysmiel and they fooled around for awhile. Then she promised him extra awesome sexytimes at her house, so he left Korvaak’s place on the most epic of booty calls. Meanwhile, Bysmiel, Dreeg, and Solael stole Korvaak’s power which Korvaak stole many years ago.
That’s the “Ulzuin’s Betrayal” you’ve no doubt heard 100,000 times in Crucible.
Damn, I misread ramblings of Korvaak. So apparently he talks about a witch that seduced Ulzuin, got confused because he talks about Ulzuin and then in the next sentence talks about “she”.
Yeah Ulzuin is really pathetic - a god to betray his patron for a pussy lol…
And Korvaak didnt stole the Eldritch realm - he created it.
However once WG dethroned him they falcified history books to make him the bad guy - which makes me loathe the three even more and shows what slimy balls they are.
If we link the new lore with the other lore from AoM:
Empyrion creates…something (Cairn? The humans? Both?) and vanishes.
Gods were at war, 1 side (Korvaak, Lokarr(?), Ulzuin(?), probably more) used the aetherials as soldiers, the other side summoned the “dead god” (Ch’thon) and his minions and won the war. What was the war for? The direction of Empyrion’s creation?
The aetherials were imprisoned and the losing side retreated to bide their time. Korvaak, in his ramblings, refers to the “many-eyed fiend” - Dreeg? It seems Korkaak “bound him to his fate”. If it is Dreeg, no wonder he betrayed Korvaak
2 humans (?) saw an opportunity to overthrow Korvaak. Bysmiel (Bryscilla? The physical description fits) seduced Ulzuin (Ulgrim? hah! It would be funny) and made it so he betrayed Korvaak. Dreeg and Solael (a sorcerer) helped out too and together, the 3 sealed Korvaak. This led to the destruction of the korvan civilization.
the 3 took Korvaaks throne and became the 3 witch gods (and yes, they are usurpers, we just don’t know the exact reasons). Mogdrogen seems to think of them as cowards and the fact that they let everything happen (or they don’t really have the power to stop it?) and only intervened when Korvaak stirred tells me that they only care about consolidating their own power and little else.
It was actually Empyrion that slayed Ch’ton…Probably to protect the world from Yugol. Check the Spear of Heaven and Yugol constellation description, the Spear was the weapon Empyrion used to fragment Ch’ton in a thousand-thousand pieces, and it is said that Yugol’s coming is prevented by a thousand-thousand stars. I don’t think it’s a coïncidence.
So at the beginning did Korvaak created the Eldritch Realm or did someone else (Empyrion?) created it and then Korvaak took the Elditch Throne for himself? (when Empyrion disappeared for example) I didn’t found any lore note that explains the Eldritch Realm creation atm
I belive the witch gods lore was all created on the go and thats why no one heard of it before. Starting with “there is a skill that looks like a green eye that explodes on impact doing poison damage, need to background it with some lore”. There was nothing else besides descriptions in occultist mastery for a long time. This game’s lore turned pretty decent though, in comparison with many others. Think of Diablo ridiculous story.
