SSF Death knight - First Char [New Player]

Hi I am Nazakthul new in GD. I tied to make a build to make me through campaign… First I think i screw up the devotions
this is a link to my build
Nazak Build Death Knight lvl 73 Elite

I stack resistance through devotions and components/augment I am stuck with piercing res. I don’t know how to shuffle the equipment not to loose other resistances badly. A little advice would be nice. Equipment to farm components augments. I don’t ask to make me a build. I try to think my own, through i watched on YouTube some builds as references

The problem started in elite in in Arcovia. Even the Warden was beaten without flinching.

I know siphon from necro is sub-optimal here.

When i started the build the idea was a necro with melee attack no summon and aether damage

Thank you in advance

items, you need to stack resist via items first and foremost, then comps, then augs
use MIs and faction armours that comes with fixed min res
pants are level 15, you’re 73, this is bad, because level relevant pants would give you lots of stats - even generic green ones would give you more stats

faction items Grim Dawn Item Database
MI’s Grim Dawn Item Database

*use components in every slots, and when you see slot specific comps, like silk swatch; don’t block such a slot with a component that goes “everywhere”/in other slots that comp doesn’t (ex you put antivenom salve in chest/shoulder blocking pierce res comp)

Thanks for advice
I tried to search in a database the example you gave me but with no avail. I found the base but when i try to put affixes on it did not find any… I believe 1st word is a prefix and after of is the suffix i wanted an idea where to look in game for something similar.

Off topic Will be a long night. I remember back in the day searching for a crystal sword with decent stats in orig Diablo2 to try and roll 6 socket on it. With GD i am back in business again

you can’t search the database for generic items with affixes, since they are “assembled” in game from combinations of eachother, - so looking up “warding exalted leggings of the flesh hulk” gives you nothing since technically that item doesn’t exist “as an item/direct item”
can only look up individual affixes and the base item (calc is best for this imo since it shows quick overview direct on slots when clicking

then it’s RNG what you get in game, but they should all have roughly equal chance, and since if it’s generic base items means you can just go to regular merchant and shop them and reset+fish until something comes up (tho i’m guessing your main issue is your loot filter and ignoring regular rares all together considering your armours

MIs are easy however, since you can direct target farm them and they always come with guaranteed minimum stats, similarly do faction items ofc, MIs just also get affixes on top.
MI search should be easy, in both calc and database, makes it quick to look up specific resist items in level range

Thanks a lot for your understanding and în deplasare explanation. I think I can grasp how to look for the item. Puting my experience from D2 and somehow PoE(didn’t play much) I think I can handle it till 100 without fuss.

If anybody have some input please do so but I think I understood the big picture. Now comes the hard part of putting in practice. It is going to be fun . I will post again the build after I optimize it at lvl 100 hopefully for SR and CR

if you have more questions feel free to ask at anytime, or if you want tips on looking up specific items/stats on grimtools :+1:

remove discord from cadence

Played all night. Changed a couple of gear and remove the points from discord (from cadence) and repurpose in Oleron( hope spelled right) at least temporary). Made Cr100 on first difficulty in a go (with only fire meteor pillar active firtst upgrade). And I am at the warden on ultimate. Still I have some problems with the last resistance from row 2. But with a good piloting no biggie. So thanks for the advises. I plan to re-upload after I beat warden on ultimate and have some FG stuff done for the merits. Bought merits on ultimate for the alts.
After I finish my job I plan to test on SoT dungeon. Or in Tomb of Heretic on Normal where I died first time I tried. Then I never bothered with that quest again.

Thanks again all of you for the advices.

If you let him give you a little advice, this could make your leveling more comfortable.

Succeed to beat Warden but still I have some problem in Arcovia
I changed some equipment and Act 1 was smooth
A single problem i have . how to rise my last resistance.
for the time being i return to ultimate for reputation farming. Need stronger arguments

FG in Ultimate is a no no. I didn’t even pass the trial. :skull:

Thanks for help I somehow start to understand better the mechanics. And i have so much fun. I wonder how hard will be ascendant mode

There is a lot you can improve here.

Pretty much every slot except for the armor can be swapped for big gains.

Just gonna leave some suggestions here:

Voldrak’s Crusher

Solael-Sect Legguards

Mogara’s fangs

Ugdenbog Girdle

And then I would swap everything except for the armor for physical-themed faction gear.

There is no real point to do physical damage + X.

Hi, if you are talking about physical resistance, it is quite scarce in the game. It is very hard to max it, having a bit is already great, do not worry about it.

Try to max armor absorbtion though (default is 70%). You can see the value when you hover above “armor rating” (first character sheet). The most common component for this is a Scaled hide that you can craft, and also an Ancient armor plate that you can drop anywhere.

Enjoy the game most of all.

@HonorabruSudoku Thanks for advises I am watching the videos from Protos on YouTube and I have some ideas. The problem for me was to get used with affixes and what kind of stats gives, but now i’m kind of getting used with.

@Balmain I think I dial down on Elite for now to farm some MI faction rep and totems and have fun with the story. For me is not boring to repeat the story n times

Back in the days i had around 30+ D2 LoD characters Maxed out ( dozens of Necros, Barbarians and Assassins) A quarter being HC char (sadly dead on hell in expansions).

I am really enjoying the game

The night was dark and grim till dawn. Ejoing the game on elite. Made half of Homestead quest line and sides.

I am planning to make one or two DKs and I wonder if a summon build would be viable. After I get revered with Malmouth I want to buy the potion to double my xp rate on alt.

I understand that the skelies were good in some earlier patches but got nerfed.
I read a lot on the forum because I don’t want to clutter this topic with irrelevant info or transform in a pseudo leveling journal. I have offline grimtools for that. I might post after I become 100 and make it through SR50+ in the build category. There are so many skills to understand and sadly I have a day job in which I have to perform well

Fought Nemesis Val in Imolation (Veteran). But even on Normal I have problem with Gargabol phase 2 or the boss from Tomb of the Heretic. In rest I don’t have any problem.

Should o try to climb Shattered Realm to farm better equipment? Now I am revered with Devil Crossing , Virgil, Malmouth, Homestead. But I don’t see any equipment to give me more damage. (Have 20k-50k with cadence). Or should I do CR 100+? The Resistances without physical are overcapped even in Ultimate (with 2 of them I have still problem ) so in Normal (Veteran) shouldn’t be a problem. I will post the build as soon as I open my PC. But in my opinion I should farm equipment and make something about HP(9K).

Thanks

it’s probably not a resist issue
for Gargabol i’d suspect it’s a mechanic issue/you’re not adapting to his attacks (it’s atleast the most common thing from players when char stats is fixed)
For Morgoneth it might depend on your healing, Morgo does a double dmg nerf at 50%hp, which means builds that rely on lifesteal gets massively reduced healing, which then is more impactful for low leech builds
other stuff can be taking Morgo’s hard hits like his jump and slow swing and magi ghost’s rock shower
