A SSF option will be most welcome when making a new character
We’ve been making topics about this since time immemorial. But from what I can see, they’re making SSF even harder in the upcoming patch. With the shared component tab.
An SSF tick box should disable automatic pulling of components from the shared stash.
I wonder what is the reason why Grim Dawn don’t have such feature, given there were many topics about it?
Because players can already do this as indicated in many of those threads.
Just…don’t touch the tab?
???
By ‘deleting’ all your saves manually. I mean… that’s a bit like saying you can uninstall the program by formatting your harddrive.
Sure you can… but it’s very inconvenient.
Doesn’t it automatically take stuff from the tab? (Just like it does now if you craft stuff
).
Iirc crafting and devotion windows prioritise the player inventory over one’s stash.
Sure, but who’s counting their components manually before clicking craft?
Either way, I don’t think it really matters. If you want to do ssf you need to move everything out of the save folder anyway. So moving the shared tabs file isn’t really any harder.
If the character is the only character, then it’s their own stash/stuff. It’s items they’ve collected, ie SSF.
If it’s the functionality you don’t like - that’s no longer SSF related.
I play SSF a lot, and would say that this is less of an issue than in online game where you don’t have control of saves. It would be nice, though, to be able to turn off shared stash, components, materials, blueprints and achievements. But maybe I would still just rename the save folder.
I do SSF for years , yes it took few seconds to setup it’s not like click in-game option but still:
- rename your save folder to something relevant like “GDbackup”
- next character will be completely SSF
- don’t store SSF drops in shared stash use their personal stash
- when finish the run just transfer the character folder ( if you transfer whole main folder that will replace your main folder blacksmith and shared stash )
- erase the save folder after
I’ve been trying to give up the SSF play style. I’ve realized that collecting blueprints is actually not fun. I’ve also been copying the game map between my characters.
Although I still like each character to have their own resources. And to find and use their own items. Taking other characters items should not be automatic.
I think one difficulty with implementing it as a game mode is that people would like different things as they have their own sets of rules. SSF for me definitely means no blueprints. (I rather like not having them, and the uncertainty as to when they will drop.)
Yup, only reason I don’t do it. But if Crate wants to do it for those who want it, then I see no problem with it.
If I played SSF I would retain my blueprints and illusions. You still need to collect the materials.
Turns out you need to collect your own aether crystals and ugdenblooms anyway. Those things are ALWAYS in short supply even for non-SSF. I find myself farming those particular items again and again on characters in the otherwise packed save folder. I wonder what new semi-available item is in store for us in FOA? Something for sure…
Get excited for:
Ashes of Fangs xd
curious how it changes anything for you vs now ![]()
When you do SSF atm you delete your stash/move it out of the save folder? poof goes shared comps page anyway after 1.3
*aside world drop components seemingly not being auto transfered to the shared page either, judging by how Z had comps in his inventory and the new button present in the inventory to transfer to stash

With a new dedicated button in the inventory window you can automatically hoover up all of your materials and components into your shared stash
seems optional to use then
