Stack the unstackable

Well, I never heard anyone anywhere ever complaining about having a lot of space in the inventory/bank when its real. But I guess there is always someone :stuck_out_tongue: No offense :stuck_out_tongue: Not that millions that downloaded the mod in d2 nore in gw2 where you even have an extra stash for crafting materials when those items you pick up or salvage on the run will land there with one click of yours. Ofc they sell bank space, same in PoE, but thats one way they keep the game profitable and is fully legit imho. I bought bank / inventory and im very happy as everyone in my guild seems to be. Also with 1 item per square  No complains.
Instead of ā€œmule-managementā€ youre busy slaying mobs. Thats how it should be. D2 killed it for me when i got auto-banned for 3 days for switching to fast on my mules and my cable provider didnt change my ip. I couldnt. So annoying

this has nothing whatsoever to do with how much space there is / how many items I can store. Obviously I want a large inventory, but the two issues are completely unrelated… Obviously the inventory design has to take into account whether items take up one cell each or not, that is all that is affected. There is nothing that says that I can store more items in a game that uses 1x1 item sizes for everything…

I can e.g. have all items as 1x1 and an inventory size of 3x3, then I can store a lot more items in GD than in the game where each item takes up one cell only…

There is no ā€œmule managementā€ in GD either, only people who make the choice to use mules when in reality it is totally unnecessary. Even if you don’t use one of the stash manager tools muling is still out-dated in GD, even manually switching out your stash files is faster and more efficient than muling ever will be.

@Mamba

Well, yes. Thats true!

I still hope there will be a change once, like the op does and probably many others
Because it means quaility of life ingame, and a lot!

Never the less I hope more people will buy this game and I hope by posting my 3 yesses it could bring one or a few more buyers. Its worth it. Feel free to add yours. Peace

Powbam: Oh there is, you cant deny else there wont be such forum threads. In earlier days some of you proposed me to use some ā€œcheat toolsā€ or to ā€œcollect 2 components eachā€ when I was seeing how many id need to craft some good relic. I dont want those cheat tools gd stash whatsoever, really. Stay away from me :stuck_out_tongue:

You can manually switch unlimited stash files without needing to use any other tools whatsoever. Anyone who is muling is doing so because they usually don’t know that they literally do not need to mule. At all. Ever.

Anyone who does so and knows this is muling intentionally then. In other words, muling is still completely unnecessary and can safely be done away with as there are better options.

None of the stash tools employs cheating unless you use any available cheat functions intentionally. If you don’t have the will power to abstain from cheating then the hard truth is you have a personal problem. In that case it would be you at fault, not the tool. Self control is key.

Yes, its good that this is possible. Still oldschool compared to the solutions that already exist, and not nessesary then. I really appreciated when Crate finaly found a solution for the space you needed for the ā€œobscene amount of componentsā€ because of the relics, and not only for them. Why did they change it if you simply could move files? Because its more confortable. And I hope they continue this road even further.

A great game of course. Everyone who loves ARPGs should give it a try

One has nothing to do with the other. Being able to manually move files is simply a byproduct of being an offline, locally saved game, they do not make such decisions based on this factor, nor should they be expected to.

I was preferring that they made other choices concerning components and kept the completion boni we used to get instead. I feel they could have worked out a different solution that didn’t involve removing the boni and still nullified the impact to storage. But it is what it is.

Well, once they said that quality of life ingame is important for them. Imho this is part of ingame confort. Wouldnt hurt if there was a more elegant solution. And no, I dont expect them to do it, I only wish

I did suggest to them once upon a time (before the changes) an idea I had to resolve it. It goes like this:

  1. The entire issue with components lay in the fact that the completion boni were random. Because of this completed components could not be stacked since they were not identical. Only identical items can be stacked. This of course created storage issues as components are numerous, and is what ultimately forced them to bend the knee and take the course they did.

  2. My (possible) solution was for them to create a behind-the-scenes, invisible, large-to-unlimited stash.

  3. Lets say you have 1 completed Polished Emerald and you just completed a 2nd one and you want to stack them (with completion boni). Visually the game would do this. You stack them and it would appear as it does now with the stack showing in your inventory with the number 2 overlayed in part of it to indicate the stack.

  4. Behind the scenes tho, in the invisible stash, as you stack them both Polished Emeralds actually reside in this stash (or rather, relocate to this stash). Separate and retaining their different completion boni. You don’t have to be bothered with seeing this as it is hidden.

  5. Now, you want to use them tho and be able to view the various boni you have accrued right? Well we can already split stacks of course but in this case we would also get a small menu list/popup that displays the boni available. Simply select the ones you want and viola, they extract, separated visibly into your inventory.

That was my suggestion to them in order to retain the boni (and gain the ability to stack). I be no programmer but I have some inkling of the working of it and I feel that this should be possible. If I recall tho they never commented on the feasibility of this option. (Seriously tho, feel free to comment on the possibility of this working, @Rhis  or even one of our experienced modders)

Wow, yes. That would have been awesome.

Something similar maybe for all those (different) legendaries or even blues?
A drop down list in that stash. Yes, oh my gosh. I really, really wish something like that comes true one day. I would definitely want to buy it. This is too good to come true

That’s what I thought too

It would be a little bit of work, I imagine, but surely nothing too major to implement.

A bit of code to scan the hidden stash for the appropriate components and display and list the various boni you have available for said stack(s). I’m sure there may be a little extra that would need doing but that seems like it would be the majority of it.

And yeah… I could see it being useful to make other gear stackable and accessible as well.

You sir are brilliant. This idea. Wow, I simply love it!

But since I dont want to hijack this thread, I leave it to all of you guys now.

I’ll request them to move it to a new thread so it gets a little more appropriate visibility.

Edit:: It should be noted that upon the death of completion boni medierra made this comment (I still remember it)

To read the whole post on the matter> http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?p=295443#post295443

So… there is the possibility we shall see a return of what was taken, or some other form of it.

Done. Is the thread title any good?

Was a very sad day when they killed the completion bonuses, but on the bright side I haven’t picked up a component piece since.

Thank you eis… The title is perfect.

Well, guess that cleared up some inventory space for ya lol

yeah I went from 5 full transfer.gsh files to just a half a tab of my main transfer.gsh file

Will probably have to start picking some up again with the expansion as I’m down to less then 5 of some of my more used ones.

I just wish the bank slots were a little bit bigger, so that I can store all of my different components in a single one. As it is, I keep hitting the limit…

How do you not fit them in one. They are stackable and aren’t that many components in the game.
