I was going to post this in the bug forum, but it could just be me being dumb. I accepted the quest “A Jewel in the Mud” to assist Barrowholm to gain access to Scorv’s Stash. Then I did the quest to activate the three wards around the city and also at the same time did the mine quest (and turned it in at the same time). In the mean time I also completed the first objective of “Travelers Beware” which is to “Rescue Travelers in Northern Ugdenbog”.
However I cannot find any NPCs in the area around Barrowholm that will let me complete the second objective “Rescue Travelers in Northeastern Ugdenbog”. There are several fenced areas that are empty, which look like (from at least one other person’s screenshot) there should be NPCs there but I cannot get them to spawn. I’ve remade the game three times to try again and still can’t get anything to spawn in the region that lets me complete the quest. (this includes a remake after today’s 1.0.2.1 patch)
Since this quest appears to be on the main quest line, I cannot progress the game at the moment. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Update: Decided to grind Barrowholm rep to Respected, got a bounty that involved an NPC spawning in the cannibal camp (Packla?) and that seemed to fix whatever problem there was.
From memory the quest progress indications say north and northeast group.
A good example of how the game leaves you wondering around clueless wishing quest markers showed up on the map before you are almost on top of them.
The quest talks about Ugdenbog while the quest spawns are all in the area east of Barrowholm. I don’t even know if Barrowholm is supposed to be considered a part of Ugdenbog.
First time through it took me ages to find the northeast group because due east of and close to Barrowholm where they spawned was the last place I looked.
I actually headed out east to start with since I was also looking for the Wendigo Wards at the same time, but would never have thought to go down there by following this quest’s directions.
Still needs clarification to me. But then I’ve just done the Meddling Witch quest as well and also headed down there initially since the directions say south of Barrowholm. :undecided:
