Recently, I was trying to get a Korvaak’s Burning-Blade for a new character. I’ve tried making several summoners around it on multiple occasions in different ways but every time, trying to find one with pet damage proves a challenge, even after the change some updates back to bias Infrequent affixes to the weapon’s base stats.
The affixes that drop I see are largely +% Fire damage ones like Searing, or Scorching, Attack speed ones like of Alacrity, or class-based ones like Demolitionist’s. Which is fair enough, it’s stats indicate it could be used on an auto-attacker too, but that isn’t the only use for it.
In all of my many characters and attempts across months and years since FG’s release, I’ve only ever found, kept and used one pet affix on it legitimately, and it’s Rare quality. I see off-hands like Bloodsworn Codex or Fleshwarped Archive with pet damage affixes easily though so, I finally decided to look into this further and discovered:
All of the prefixes that can roll on main hands with pet stats are Rare quality - the class-based ones like Conjurer’s, Heretic’s, Seer’s etc. and Wraithbound. That’s it. Nothing magic quality.
All of the suffixes that can roll on main hands with pet stats are Rare quality - of Bestial Rage, of Binding, of Caged Souls. That’s it.
tl;dr:
Would it please be too much of a problem to add Subjugator’s to the affix tables for Scepters and Daggers and have it be biased toward dropping on the following Monster Infrequents?
Salazar’s Sovereign Blade.
Korvaak’s Burning-Blade.
Scorpius Pummeler.
Bargoll’s Core.
Optionally, reclassing Warden’s Judgment to a Scepter to include it too as it’s an outlier being a Mace wouldn’t hurt.
should note in my recent runthrough i found it somewhat easy to get one of the rare pet affixes on the Warden stick
possibly due to them being avail in low lvl versions or just inherent pet bias on the weapon? (or just rng+confirmation bias?)
otherwise yea, moar pet affix bias please
(srs, who uses korvaak burnign blade except for pet builds? just remove all other non-pet affix bias from it)
yes, let me sht on my build using an item that affords it 0 bonuses other than conversion easily obtained elsewhere…
to a mastery that’s awesome with 1h melee taking a slot with 0 other skill boosters or modifiers omg what a glorious tradeoff i can’t wait to not use an actual proper weapon to get a slight % more conversion on bat or scales
oh show me that “easily obtained elsewhere” 100% vit to fire pls… in like 2-3 slots? Riftclaw slicer with no burn, no useful stats for a caster and EoR mod? Blazeheart with likewise useless mods an fcking %as… blazeseer rings instead of -rr on combustion band and 50% crit damage for your burn stack on entropic coil? i seriously want to cry lol
On the other hand that MI is an easily farmable 100% conversion 400+% fire/burn stat stick for any caster demo build (especially self found) that doesn’t need a “build enabler” tier weapon (the closest thing i can think of is herald of blazing ends for the spam bwc duration mod).
And just to make my take/opinion clear:
adding subjugator prefix for that dagger (and the other stuff as well) → great idea
biasing it against truly useless affixes → great idea
biasing it towards affixes that useful for other builds like fire based stuff on k. burning blade → bad idea
removing fire based affixes from it alltogether → “so bad it made me log in to this forum after over a year just to ask if you’re fckin serious” idea
glad i could prompt a visit with suggestion so outrageous Zantai obviously would totally implement it because it came from moi
anyways on an actual serious talk part, during leveling i’d use pierce conversion and settle for bat, using moltenclaws - while still getting neato skill boosters
then for other actual buidld stuff you have flamestrife, ascendant conduit etc etc, where we can still get fat pierce conversion elsewhere, maybe a tad vit
mostly because i don’t like scales on fire builds, i’d probably even take dryad instead, some other derp, use a weapon that actually fits my build, boosting it, and “getting my sustain on” by other means
obv Korvan-Burning blade is used in a ton of endgame builds purely for the vitality conversion for easy sustain,
instead of more build specific weapons,
so obviously it’s totally out of line i in part dare to make so honest suggestion i even for a second believed could ever be applied to the game (based on Zantai’s complete willingness to such request form past milder requests), highlighting the use of pets
i deeply apologize for this grave grievous transgression oh wise Rainbow Wizard
I would give the OP a like, but the system is still bottlenecking my hearts after the “Out of Love” holiday spree yesterday
+1, always seemed odd to me that these things that are clearly partly geared towards pet-users don’t have great pet affnities for their affixes. And by odd, I mean it seemed quite troll. But yes, keep the original fire affinity for those builds that still use those, and add more pet ones on top – if that’s mechanically possible.
