Some enemies like the beetles that come from under the sand in Forgotten Gods and the vultures that come flying in packs in the second act of the main campaign, take perhaps too long to appear and attack the character.
The fast movement of the character makes so that by the time they appear after the character triggers them, the character has already left the spot they appear in. If the time between they are triggered and they appear on screen was reduced by 1 or 2 seconds, they would be able to attack the character more consistently.
they’re probably too groggy from waiting too long in one place to ambush the players. them muscle cramps are srz bznz. we won’t even understand the villains’ pain of waiting for so long for players to come and challenge them so that the game’s story can progress.
i would like to reiterate the need for this
going through Steps of Torment today it was painfully obvious how “dislodged” the crawl out the ground triggered enemies were from player’s reality
unsure if there is a limit to how many can trigger, or if they are chained so they happen in some sort of “order” or don’t happen to trigger all at the same time. Or if there is some deliberate "retreading"script “incase the player backtravels”
but it’s sometimes crazy how long you can wait for some enemies to crawl out the ground after running over their spot where they crawl out
and some doesn’t even seem to happen “at all” until much much later to the point you move away, come back, and then there is suddenly a group where there were none before and where you already cleared thoroughly
it just comes off as being “off”
Gargoyles can also descend slow enough that you can actually miss them, which means you stand around waiting for them when farming, since they are few and far between spawns
